That's why America needs less immigration and population growth.
Some complain there isn't enough people to fill skilled labor positions. Then they want to flood this country with illegals and grant H1B visas while claiming "Immigrants do jobs no one wants to do".

Yeah immigration policy is just squeezing out the middle from the top and bottom.
Companies will not be automating to follow others. They will be automating to stay competitive out of necessity.
True, once said company gets past paying whatever for said machine that machine will end up costing less then an entire crew of workers. And they don't get tired or need breaks or get hurt not to mention the company won't have to pay insurance, etc. It's a win-win for the companies.
