Companies will not be automating to follow others. They will be automating to stay competitive out of necessity.
Let this be a lesson to those downplaying knowledge based jobs. Those jobs are going to the be ones that will survive this transition. Fortune 500 companies have long realized this and certain countries also. I mean, even look at the future of construction. All pre-fabricated and probably 3-D printed or machine built in the facility. if your job requires repetition, its going to be automated eventually.
