Those who are trying to defend Nunberg’s actions today (and failing miserably at it, might I add), just take a deep breath. Just watch where this will land him like the rest of the reasonable folks here. There is no need to bend over backwards to defend every stupid misstep taken by persons of interest in this investigation. There are so many missteps. If you insist on defending each and every one, you’ll end up twisted up like a pretzel, a yucky Russian pretzel.
Can't be in (criminal) contempt of court, because the subpoena is not issued BY a court. You cannot be in criminal contempt of a grand jury. It is a civil action....and thus can be ignored.
This is a Criminal Grand Jury. I think you are mistaken in your analysis.
My guess is that if you are offered immunity in exchange for providing evidence in a criminal investigation and then refuse to provide the evidence, the immunity no longer applies.
If you don't answer you will be held in contempt.
