But didn't progressives have a hand in it? We knew America would go down the toilet under a Trump presidency, but we still did not turn out in sufficient numbers to prevent that from happening even though we outnumber conservatives by a wide margin, enough to overcome any meddling. The odds of Hillary winning were as high as 99% according to one odds-maker on Election Day.
What oddsmaker was that?
The problem with subsidizing laziness is lazy people are often too lazy to vote.
Remove CA. and MA. from the USA and we got almost nothing (in IP, innovation, investment, etc.). Other countries have largely caught up (and even surpassed us) in many fields. If not for the innovation in life sciences (MA) and general technologies (CA), we'd have a great big nothing-burger.
Leftists hate capitalism yet they defend economies from those states just to attack the rest of the country.

The amount of democrats and republicans are almost even, but independents/centrists/non-partisan people outnumber them by a wide margin.

I'm all for concentrating on what is best for Americans. But I think it's safe to say that having our allies feel distrustful of, and repelled by, what they think America has become isn't exactly GOOD for America or Americans. Or, is it good for America to go it alone?
