Drinking is no answer. It creates depression. The after effects of alcohol is a let down.

I live in Mexico full-time and have owned a home here since 2008.

Mexicans are generous and easy-going.

But trump humiliated them with his racist comments.

Building a concrete border wall will do even more harm to our relations.

The MXN Presidential election is July 1st. AMLO is expected to win.

If a concrete border wall is started, here's what will happen:

In exchange for not selling hard drugs within Mexico the cartel(s), they will have carte blanche to run drugs through MX to the US border. Same will go for GTA and other refugees from CA. AMLO will give them safe passage as long as they do not stay in MX.

Right now the MXN authorities stop a lot of drugs and human smuggling before they reach the US border. But if trump continues to berate the Mexican people and their Country, AMLO will get even. He shares some of trump's personality traits and but is more likely to follow through on his bluster than trump is.

Those kids are the least drug-addled generation in ages.

"Drug use among U.S. teens is at an all-time low.

That’s the heartening finding from a new survey by the U.S. National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).

Fewer teens are using illegal drugs than ever before, the survey found, and fewer are falling prey to the epidemic of prescription drug abuse plaguing many adults in the United States.'

When I was a pup, it was wealthier white dude who brought in most of the drugs. Some of them were from top notch families and had "cover" businesses and nice offices. It was quite "normal" back then.

Lots of stuff flew in from Morocco, Lebanon, etc.

Cruise ships, of course, are quite large. Same with supertankers, container ships, freighters, etc.
The crews and even the captains of such ships might like to make some extra $$.

We should START any drug conversation with the idea that you cannot stop supply. If you could, even temporarily, that would send many to their deaths from sniffing Cabona and Glue, etc.

Nice try for those who think the Wall must be built for Trump to keep his promise (Day One, and Mexico will pay - yes, they will pay).

One wonders why Trumpies are so simplistic about The Wall and don't talk about the Congress and POTUS doing what is really important....laws! Comprehensive Immigration Reform Law.

As we used to say in the trades, everything is easy for those who never have to do it. I think "conservatives" and "authoritarians" tend to think only in black and white...and often only repeat what they have heard from "their superiors". If they did some research they'd know that a Wall will do absolutely nothing (of course, we have fences and walls at major population centers and these continue to be improved...which is fine).

You're kidding, right? My born in 1916 momma smoked pot. She was as hard working contributing member of society as anybody.

DH's first boss who had been an aide to General Patton smoked pot. Pot was made illegal by cotton farmers who did want competition from the better product, hemp.

Read up on the opium wars.

Whose G-d do you want in the classroom? If ya let one in, you're gonna have to let them all in.

IMHO, here are the reasons crack fell out of favor.....most are the same reasons cocaine fell out of favor with whites and others......

1. They are/were too expensive.
2. The effects are VERY short lasting.
3. Those who were heavy into them tended to die or burn out completely....a warning to others as to where it leads.o pr
4. Meth became MUCH bigger - cheaper, longer lasting and more available. The working person's coke.
5. Opiates are/were legal...allowing for more people to prefer them since a doctor provided the initial supply.

To that we could add that the price of opiates have come down and down.

Meth use increased by 500% from 1990 to today.

Are you suggesting that things are better now because people are dying from regular cocaine and meth instead of crack?

No.It was a small part of society . Then in the 60's, the give peace a chance crowd made casual sex and drugs attractive. People were taking LSD and jumping out of windows thinking they could fly. John Lennon was a drug pusher in regards to the attractiveness of "GETTING HIGH".

There was a campaign making drugs the in thing. Today it is a runaway traiin. Getting high on any substance is the new norm. No morals,no self control, no direction. These kids are sitting ducks. It's all about pleasure seeking without any boundaries. Taking God out ,Satan moves in.

Years ago there was no shortage of alcohol in society.

The Puritan/ Pilgrim culture that initially immigrated to the US banned alcohol and all forms of merry making, including the celebration of Christmas. They merged and fractured in New England, the birthplace of freedom of religion. Immigrants from the rest of Europe arrived and brought their cultures with them and refused to assimilate.

Teens/ young adults gravitated towards alcohol. There were taverns on nearly every corner in urban areas. No shortage of taverns in rural areas.

SCOTUS ruled in 1962 that prayer in public schools was a violation of the Constitution. By that time most states/ counties/ districts had already banned prayer in public schools.

56 years is time enough to get over it. The US people have a long history of substance abuse.

lmao..Where do you think they are coming from? Are your neighbors growing poppy and coca then setting up a lab to refine it? How about Meth? Are they making that next door as well too? The majority of that stuff is coming from the cartels in Mexico.

They are definitely not destroying any poppy crops! In fact they use military to guard the fields in some other countries.

When you consider how many lives heroin has taken or destroyed, it is really terrorism, so its surprising there are no calls to go into mexico and destroy the poppy fields.

Plus, if they can consistently keep the ENTIRE US supplied in heroin, the poppy acreage needed to accomplish this is off the charts, to keep one moderate user supplied daily, it takes 5-8 acres of the opium producing poppy...do the math on how many are needed to keep an entire nation supplied!!! I would bet there are poppy fields in Mexico and Afghanistan so large, they can be seen from space!
