That poor little girl. She was screaming bloody murder. I once showed my niece a doll I used to play with--she was five and backed away from the doll in fear. Her response was a fraction of what this girl did and still made me feel bad. I can't imagine getting my kicks off a toddler's fear.
Nobody has in about the past decade. I was shocked to see that it's even still on.
The real issue here is that the parents specifically did not want their daughter to be videoed or photograph at daycare based on a form they filled out. The daycare workers did not have permission to take the video and share it. That's a gross violation of the family's privacy, and a failure of responsibility at the daycare.
You must not have ever met a 2 year old, have you?
At Easter brunch, my 2 year old niece had a similar reaction when the Easter bunny got close. Luckily, Auntie Charo was able to take her out of the room to make a big ice cream sundae and she was happy as a clam 5 minutes later. She was not the only toddler having a screaming meltdown at brunch when a large, costumed bunny that, frankly, creeps out a lot of the adults, entered the room. Totally developmentally normal.
When the Easter Bunny got close...
The parents of your niece & the other children who freaked out didn't see, on the menu for Easter Brunch, that the Easter Bunny would show up?

The parents signed a document specifically denying the daycare the right to photograph or video their child. For an improperly taken video to be shared on the internet, especially of her in such a state, is wildly inappropriate and cause for action, IMO. Many parents do not want any images of their child on the internet and social media, and it is not up to a daycare worker to usurp that authority.
The daycare didn't film this kid and post it to their site. This 2 year old child's caregivers did.
Not Ok.
Shame on the caregiver.
I highly doubt that the EB showing up to the daycare classrooms was a surprise for the parents.
Again, shame on the caregiver - but you get what you pay for.
Jimmy Kimmel made fun of her reaction...is the family going to sue him, too?
