I do realize that people such as the woman in the OP may live in a sheltered world and have not been exposed to cultures different than that they embrace. And as such are ignorant and fearful of things they haven't experienced. Still, no reason to jump to inaccurate conclusions about your fellow citizens.
I live in a state where open carry is forbidden. I know a lot of people have cwps, but I’ve never seen anyone other than law enforcement openly carrying. I’ve traveled through many different states and lived in different states and I’ve traveled internationally, so I wouldn’t say I’m sheltered. That “culture” of carrying guns openly on a playground is foreign to me. Maybe it would be different if I lived in Texas or some other state where people normally walk around with guns on their shirts.

But - with all the open carry, I suspect we are going to see some accidental dead people. Consider it the price of freedom...freedom ain't free.

As long as I have a choice I won't reside in places where guns on civilians are typical. Just because the law allows something doesn't mean every tom, dick and jane should do it.

Hey, Police are the good guys with guns. Therefore, by the very definition, if they feel someone is a danger to the public or to them they will likely shoot first and ask questions later.
Cute little story, but more white people are shot and killed by law enforcement officers than blacks are. Hate to puncture your little self-pity party with facts. The odds of anyone being shot by police while obeying the law is incredibly low. Don't want to be shot by police? Don't break the law, and don't act like a fool. Pretty simple.

Interesting of you to suggest that "white people" break the law and act like fools more often than "blacks"

DC, do you assume that every person driving near you on the highway has a license and insurance, and is able to operate a 6000# vehicle both safely and not in a manner intentionally threatening to you without warning? As Toyman says, to do so is reasonable until they indicate otherwise. If you do not believe this, perhaps you should either ask the police for an escort everywhere you go or, even better, stay at home.

Who said anything about need....it is his right to do so if he chooses, just as it is your right not to do so.

My wife would say to me we are just going to Wal-Mart, or the grocery store; why do you need to carry your GUN with you. I would explain, I carry my gun conceal, I put it on like I put my pants on when I leave the house, it goes places with me.

I don't specifically put a gun on just to go to Kroger's, I put a gun on, and it goes where I go.

Similar story was the original post is based on, my best friend Carl was at the local Food Lion, he was opening caring; and here in Virginia that is legal. My friend Carl was also reading a Gun & Ammo magazine at the same time. a local patron had the manager of the store call the police.

When the police arrived, the officer at first want to know why he was caring a gun, and my friend Carl indicated it was legal to do so. The officer also started to push the situation a little further, my friend had him call is Sargent to the store.

The Police Sargent arrive asked the officer and my friend what was going on, my friend carl advised that he was within his rights to be open caring his gun even in the Food Lion, Especially since Food Lion did not have any signs posted that no weapons were permitted. The office looked to the Sargent as what to do next, and the Sargent was like you need to let him go, he is not breaking the law.

My state is open/conceal without a permit. The local city police always lie and try to tell people that they can't carry. The sheriff encourages carry.

Well to be fair, more whites should be doing what you said as there are a lot more whites than there are blacks.
