I think you are lazy, disrespectful, and only hurting yourself if you are a permanent resident of this country and you don't speak English. That being said, this fella had no right to berate these people.

I am a permanent resident, I speak better English than most Americans, and I will speak whichever language I fancy in public.
Why don't Puerto Ricans join us and become a state and speak English?
They didn't have a choice when the USA took it from Spain over 100 years ago.
Oh and by the way, Puerto Ricans ARE American citizens by definition. Unfortunately in Puerto Rico they can't vote for the President and they don't have voting Congressional representation. This doesn't apply when they move to a state like Florida, NJ or NY and vote in local, state and national elections.
Oh and BTW, lots if not most Puerto Ricans are bilingual. Met a lot of them in San Juan years ago and many speak English with a Tri-State regional accent, having lived in places like New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.
Not to mention that there is a debate in PR about keeping the status quo, statehood, or going independent.

Why do you assume someone speaking a different language can't speak English? That makes no sense.

You're lazy and only hurting yourself if you are a human being and you only speak English. Luckily, these woman are multilingual.
This dude (and many others) should learn just because he's too lazy to learn another language doesn't mean that anyone speaking different languages can't speak your own.
Well there is a new number, last I read "gun deaths" was somewhere around 33K... Are we now just adding 17K to an already inflated number? "Gun deaths" include suicides, accidents, justifiable homicides and murders. Gun related murders account for about 8K.
You are correct in gun deaths annually being around 33,000. That's still way too much. However, your trying to downplay the numbers still doesn't hide the fact that the USA has over 25 times the homicide rate by firearms than other high income countries. Just in - a mass shooting in Texas.
So what would you propose to reduce that "inflated" number?
Remember, I was responding to a poster who cited an anecdote about a foreign terrorist - and in response, we have bigger public safety problems with our own people committing violence.
