SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) - Detroit, Michigan holds the title as the worst city to live in America, according to a new report ranking America's 50 worst cities to call home.

The study, which was conducted by 24/7 Wall Street, used U.S. Census data on the roughly 600 cities that had populations of more than 50,000 in 2016, which was the most recent year available.

Each city was given a rating based on nine categories including crime, demography, economy, education, and housing.

There's some real stinkers in there for sure but some places like Tacoma, Gainesville, Salt Lake aren't too bad....if I lived in a rotten city, I'd move.

Ridiculous. I lived in Baltimore for over 50 years and don’t recall EVER locking my back door. When I go back to visit I still walk downtown neighborhoods at night and have never been in fear. All cities have good areas and bad and it’s usually very easy to see the boundaries. Now living in Texas, I’m more fearful of road ragers with guns and aggressive driving but again, being aware of your surroundings and using common sense goes a long way.

That’s probably because you’re either the police or a person who looks like the police

I’m black, lived in Fells Point for a year and passed by ghetto/poor/crime ridden areas that no sensible person would dare stop in.

There’s a reason police have surveillance cameras throughout so many dangerous neighborhoods and that the national guard had to be called in before residents destroyed all of Baltimore again.

I’ve never seen the amount of empty rowhouses, trash on the streets, and police surveillance of low income neighborhoods like in Baltimore
