Can you imagine how overwhelming the evidence must have been for one MAGA Trumps supporter to speak out against another one. I think getting 8 guilty verdicts was a win in this case.
Good for that juror! Too bad the flake they talked to claims to be a Trump supporter because no Trump supporter who RIGHTFULLY KNEW (as she states) that the entire thing was a sham and a witch hunt and would convict a man being politically persecuted.

Some Trump supporters are too far gone. They can't be reasoned with.

The person you quoted is one of them.

That's got to be an ace in the hole for a retrial. Manafort may have to reconsider flipping on Trump knowing that he is hanging from a thread on the other counts.

Firing Manafort would start the slow painful process. Trump would refuse to listen to the GOP congress and senate and they would put pressure on him, one by one, with most of them ignoring the situation at first. But the situation won't go away and more and more of the Republicans in congress would be forced to speak out and/or take action.

Citizens would be upset and protesting as well as contacting their congressperson and heading to the polls to vote out the do nothings in congress. The pressure would anger Trump even more, possibly causing Trump to make more drastic action such as firing Sessions or Mueller. First he'd try to change the subject in the press by doing other crazy deflection things, but he wouldn't be able to shake the negativity relating to pardoning Manafort and the resulting fallout.

The midterm elections would be in total chaos and the entire country would be in total chaos until Trump resigns or is removed from office. The GOP in congress, one by one, would put pressure on Trump, although a subset will stay with Trump. The citizens will be disgusted. Every singe new indictment would be another thorn in Trump's side. He might be fighting a subpoena to testify at the same time. Every new thing related to Trump/Mueller will be magnified - such as Trump Jr getting indicted and daddy going crazy.

Pardoning Manafort will start this process but it won't end in a few days. It will be at least 3-6 months and would be chaotic for the entire time. That's what they call a Constitutional Crisis.

It puts the new SC Justice seat at risk too if the chaos starts before he's voted into office.

Agree with all of that but how bad could it be? We've been in crisis mode for 18 months already.

Yep, this was just the warm-up.

The feds are said to have "three times" the evidence for this trial, and unlike his recent tax fraud trial, Manafort's September trial gets MUCH closer to the president.

According to you. I don't really care. The juror looked at the evidence and the deep state clowns didn't meet the burden of proof on those 10 counts. Tough cookie.

Lol. Facing 80 years why bother flipping? 10 years in prison would kill him and he will get more than that.

How do you know this juror was a "MAGA Trump supporter?" Don't they try to eliminate those biased one way or the other during the jury selection process? Would a juror admit to being a Trump supporter?

Why is getting 8 guilty verdicts "a win?" Aren't we supposed to earnestly seek the truth, and if one is not guilty, to return that verdict? Or, is a conviction the objective ...regardless of truth? Probably in the case of someone associated with the President, a conviction is the objective ...right?

But Hillary was never even charged with her crimes, even though James Comey said she was guilty of "extreme carelessness" (which is the same as "gross negligence," the term used in the statute).

We do have a "two tiered" justice system, it would seem.

I liked how President Trump, yesterday on that Fox interview, spoke of how flipping 'almost should be outlawed'.

I bet he does wish that his people can be legally prevented from flipping.

Anyway, I would think that Mr. Trump is being earnestly informed that if he pardons Mr. Manafort, then Mr. Manafort loses all Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination. He could be pulled in front of a Congressional committee or a grand jury, and be compelled to testify.

If he refuses, he may be found in contempt of court and jailed until such time as he 'purges himself of contempt' (i.e., testify).

If he testifies and lies, and is then found guilty of perjury, then he can be sentenced to prison. Even a President cannot pardon future crimes (though Mr. Trump could then issue a second pardon for the perjury conviction).
