The judge does want Prosecutor actions to prejudice the jury. However, that does not mean it's not relevant. Dude made millions and spent as much without so much as a whiff of concern for tax obligations or even bills he owed.
He is going to jail, no doubt about it but of course Trump will pardon him before the end of his term.
Where does it say we pay income tax, just for being a citizen of the USA?
The money in question, was earned while he was not living in the USA and had not for a few years.
Manafort did not live in the USA and had not for a few years, when he had those bank accounts or made that money.
That money was then transferred into his US account and foreign accounts closed, once back in the USA and he set up a residence. (it was not immediate the day he returned, but a year afterward)
No, he is not required to pay income tax on that money. He was not a US resident and you are not taxed for being a US Citizen.
Sorry I have too much personal knowledge on this subject having had to pay taxes on foreign earned income while living abroad for many years. You do in fact have to pay taxes for being a US citizen. There is an exemption on the first $100K.
Most countries follow the rule you mentioned but we are one of the exceptions that taxes foreign earned income.
The Judge could issue a Summary Judgement that the prosecution failed to make a case...based on what I've heard so far, that could happen in this case.
We are only wishing for that. As high profile as this case is. The Judge is not letting games be played. He wants the facts, not the fluff.

The judge is being very fair, he is criticizing both sides. So next week we won’t hear that he is a left wing democrat if Manafort is convicted.
I posted once before on this forum that I think a year from now, after multiple misstepps by Mueller resulting in non convictions, you will see the narrative that Mueller was a Republican plant all along put in place to get Trump off.

He is a fair judges as are almost a complete majority at the federal level, something we can agree on.
Its not a rarity unless you are a Trump supporter.
