Nope, it's the US Gov fault. Amazon would love to pay her 2 an hour. But 13 is close to the min wage and since she took the job, they don't care.
We've seen this many times before. Nothing new here. When that social upheaval comes, they'll sort it out. Selfishly I hope to be outside America with a cold drink by the time it happens as sometimes these things have been violent.
It's also not Amazons fault Jeff has created so much wealth for so few. It's the Gov yet again.
The current American Gov screwed over the relationship and the nature of the transaction between Jeff and this woman and Jeff and his capital returns. It'll have to adjust accordingly eventually. The longer it goes the harder it could be to do, I suppose.
Not the government.
Not Amazon.
Her.
All her.
She took the job. If she doesn't have the skills to make more than minimum wage, that's on her too.
Actually, there are a couple of "unacceptable faces of capitalism" that generally pop up:
1) WalMart
2.) McDonald's
3.) Disney
4.) Amazon
5.) Facebook
6.) Google
7.) Bank of America
8.) Goldman Sachs
9.) Pfizer
10.) Microsoft
11.) Comcast
Add to that Uber, Lyft, Doordash, Postmates and Grub Hub. App based gig economy companies force their workers to become independent contractors rather than employees so they can do an end run around labor laws. In some markets Postmates and Doordash drivers are making as little as $4 an hour. The government needs to put an end to it. But it won't because it is toothless - Republicans reflexively hate all business regulation and most Democrats are in the pocket of the tech industry.

They can't force their workers to do anything. Slavery ended in 1865.

Uber and Lyft are more known for being cheap but do you have proof about the food ones?
Kansas Republican Kevin Yoder introduced that bill. Republicans side with business over American Citizens every single time. They want more Green Card Holder so they can take American's jobs.
The GOP does not support the middle class worker. They are the party that supports wealthy billionaires and large corporations. They also allow illegals to work in the country because they don't push for national E-verify. The GOP is in control of the house, senate and presidency but they haven't discussed passing E-verify. This is because they want to keep illegals working because it saves companies money over hiring Americans.
A vote for the GOP is a vote for bringing in MORE green card holders, MORE visa holders to work in the USA and allow illegals to work at companies unchecked.
GOP is against American workers. The GOP office holders use Americans for their vote but they always side with big business once in office. The give some excuse that was written by lobbyists when they side with business.

Rather funny and ironic then that Bezos, the biggest, wealthiest elitist anti labor penny pinching slave driver is most likely a democrat since he contributes big money to Dems running for office in his home state and isn't crazy about higher taxes either.

I did Postmates between jobs for a little while. If you don't have a strategy and aren't in LA or SF you might only get one delivery an hour (or less). The minimum pay out for a delivery is $4. If you are smart you can figure out how to make more than that but anyone with a below average IQ in a slow market with few tippers will regularly make less than minimum wage. They were sued over it last year and settled out of court (Singer vs Postmates), but continue the same policies. My understanding of Doordash is that it is worse because they keep tips.
