The reality is, Barack Obama's economic policies discouraged economic growth and job creation, leading to the weakest economic recovery since the Great Depression. This is true for everyone, including black Americans.

I agree with you Rocko20 that Barack Obama's presidency did nothing to help challenges disproportionately faced by black Americans. I don't believe it's the role of the President to tell municipal governments how to operate unless said municipal governments are violating the U.S. constitution. However, the President can support or oppose policies that have some impact on overall economic growth or therefore lackof. These policies in turn do impact the well-being of everyone, including black Americans.

I did not vote for Barack Obama, I think he was one of the worst Presidents we ever had, and I disagreed with 95% of what he did. But, I do think he is a good family man who's election to the presidency has given hope to millions of black Americans who felt that they could not achieve anything they want to through hard work and honesty. I'm glad that millions of Americans, some of whom voted for Obama and others who voted for McCain or Romney, judged the candidates based on their experiences and values instead of skin color. Others wanted to support the first black President, and I understand that. Yet others still believe in the immoral injustices of the past and continue to espouse a racist mentality that has no place in American politics. So while I don't celebrate Obama's policies, I do celebrate the election of the first black President.

Obama was cast as the Great Black Hope and black people did get behind him in support.

Obama should have served as an example of just how far a smart black man can go if he worked hard and applied himself even in what the Left calls a hateful racist country. I think Obama probably inspired some people but we still have gangs shooting each other in his Chicago.

I'm not tearing down Obama to bolster Trump the media has that handled and Obama is now history so all we can do is pull from what he did for examples.

I think what Obama did for black people was to make them believe it is OK to blame white society for their poverty and high rates of incarceration. He gave them the approval to be perpetual victims and that has hurt them as a whole.

I foresee the next Democrat in the WH really hurting the black community. The Dems are pushing so hard for the Rights of illegal aliens that they forget about other minorities that will be crushed when 20 million plus illegal aliens are given amnesty and then they can legally work the service jobs that are traditionally held by minorities.

Be careful what you wish for when it comes to ousting Trump.

Why don’t the statistics for the black community reflect this? Chicago is still a war zone, out of wedlock birthrates are still high, blacks are largely unhealthy, the median income is still lowest, nothing changed.

Sorry for the breaking news, but if you didn’t achieve anything before Obama, you weren’t going to achieve anything after Oabam

Why? Well the the left is still whining about how unfair capitalism is, how they hate the free market, the massive oppression, racism, discrimination, and inequality in America that for some strange reason hasn't led to a mass emigration of Americans into Canada yet.

So lets looks look at the facts to bust this myth:

Fact #1 Chicago and the inner cities of America are still war zones
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...end/914141002/

Fact #2. The out of wedlock birthrate, which is the single biggest issue that leads to other issues for blacks, is still 72%
City leaders agree race is a problem in Baltimore - Baltimore Sun

Fact #3: More than 75% of black are overweight or obese
https://stateofobesity.org/disparities/blacks/

Fact #4. The income of blacks did not increase under Obama at all

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.432f440c1425

So as you can see, 8 years of a Obama as president did nothing to benefit the black community. With that being said, it would be safe to assume that kneeling for the national anthem or protesting a rare police shooting won't change anything either.

Change comes from within and my black community will never change so long as we keep shooting each other, having kids out of wedlock, engaging in unhealthy lifestyles, and depending on politicians like Obama to "save us." No amount of blaming "outside forces" will fix self-inflicted issues either. Change must come from within and only from within. 8 years didn't change 1 single thing.
It would be interesting to see the statistics for the general population for #'s 2,3, 4 and how they did or didn't change over the Obama era.

Examining stats in a vacuum -- useless.

Thank you Barack Obama for everything you did. As far as your black detractors are concerned, they can go kick rocks.

Wit, then why are liberals constantly claiming racism makes it impossible for black Americans to succeed no matter what?

And unless you are Black -- meh -- I don't care what you think -- lol.

From the comments made -- the fact a Black man became President has had a huge impact on the Black community.

It may not be measured in your statistical analysis -- lol......but it most definitely has had an impact.

You might want to seriously reconsider that unemployment claim.

White Republicans casting shadow on a black Democrat president and acting as an authority for what that president did for black people? Priceless!
