So, you keep rambling yet again, after you've been exposed about the nonsense of total employer costs of FICA, unemployment insurance, health care and state payroll taxes being only 8.5% of wages. Now you try to prove that being overweight is the reason for most diseases so you can try to shame people and praise your own fitness regime. Its not, and nothing in your link says it is either.
No, but they should be prepared to provide for their health issues. Children are, after all, their parents' responsibility.
I know the above is in reply to a question about pregnant women, but what about folks who do pay for their health care and have insurance through work? That was me. It was the most affordable option. And then I went into the hospital and lost the insurance. Oj, that's right. Self-inflicted even though you don't know that for a fact.
My Mom is about 20 lbs overweight. Has been for years. She developed Type 2. No one else in the family is diabetic.
I feel your mom's pain on a couple of fronts. I hope she can afford her insulin. Tell her to always take care of her feet. You can look after them for years and years and then one day be so busy that you forget to do so and all hell breaks loose. I hope as well you never have mentioned to her that her diabetes is "self inflicted."

Because of diabetes-related health complications. Diabetics heal more slowly and/or not very well, and are prone to amputations due to that. My diabetic Mom has had several toes amputated.
You lost your job and the insurance it provided because you didn't take care of your own health.
More than 87% of adults with diabetes are overweight or obese. (Source: NIH)
Furthermore, the American Diabetes Association reports people with diagnosed Diabetes incur average medical expenditure of $16,752 which adds $9,601/year attributed to Diabetes to their health care costs.

Have a nice life being perfect and never needing help. I'm done with your moral superiority.

My doctor wasn't sure why I became diabetic. But you already think you know why I contracted it. It was my fault and I should die sooner than people who had better luck than me. SMH That says more about you thank it does me.
Unfortunately I feel her pain. I went to get my prescription filled this weekend. My insulin was going to be more than $500. Another med that I need was more than $200. And the pain meds that I need that I could not get my doctor to write a script for because some other person somewhere that isn't me might take someone else's pain meds -- not mine, mind you -- probably would have cost a lot too.

Thats such a disgusting comment with no proof at all. You obviously dont understand statistics either. A grown man who was 20 pounds overweight years ago is no proof of anything. He could easily have gotten diabetes even if he was super fit like yourself. You conclude based on your own inability to comprehend facts.
Losing the job and insurance when you get sick and need insurance the most is just another sick and twisted effect of our broken system.

Exactly. And inflating the price to buy the same insurance you had when you worked is an issue as well. It's broken very badly and the ones who suffer are the ines who need the insurance most.
Uniformed Consent proved my "it's cheaper if we die" point as well as the one about making political points. He's so intent on being right that he fails to see that there are a lot of folks not as lucky as his mother.

Gluttony and irresponsibility is costing a hell of a lot of money.
"Nearly three-quarters of American men and more than 60% of women are obese or overweight.".....
So, even if a disease is evenly distributed, 75% would match your criteria, right???
In other words, 75% or adult men with MS are overweight.
75% of adult men with the flu are overweight.
75% of adult men with arthritis ave overweight.
I'd say 100% of those with diabetes breath.
