Nixon served in the military even though he had the ability to opt out. He didn't. It doesn't excuse the rest of his life.

Love him or hate him or somewhere in between - McCain said it shouldn't be only the poorest of the poor that are sent to the front lines while rich young young men line up doctors to grant them 'deferments'
