So if it was NOT 3000 lives lost, then he should ignore it? Are you serious?

What part of no electricity, broken water pipes and limited services for upwards of 11 months now eludes you? Many people who survived the initial storm succumbed in the conditions of the aftermath.

Extreme heat with no electricity, no potable water, an infrastructure that was so devastated that it was weeks, if not months, before many people could be reached. Do you really need this to be spelled out for you?

Just because people did not die during the storm doesn't mean deaths afterward were not a direct influence from the storm. Without power and fresh water, I have no doubt that thousands did die in the months afterward. By the way, the 3000 was not from the government, it was from an independent study.
