But you don't need an official government to have a group of people controlling or ruling over other people. I've had bosses and landlords who were tyrants. You can say the difference is you can walk away, but so can you leave US jurisdiction and renounce your citizenship.

Eh, the Patriot Act was passed at a time when our country was under attack and was vulnerable to Islamic terrorism (it still is but the threat is now diminished because Al Qaeda and ISIS are mostly defeated).

One can argue that the Patriot Act did its job and it worked. Sometimes you have to give up some freedoms at times of crisis and if you were alive at the time around 9/11, you know how uneasy it was for us as Americans.

You were worried about getting killed by some terrorist attack anywhere.

So why not do away with the patriot act?
I guess an even better question is, when it comes to citizens rights and regulations, how many of those have been repealed?

I'll bet I could pull up a huge list of regulations that have been repealed for wealthy business interests but regulations for citizens repealed is probably something I could count on one hand.

More freedoms for the slaves....nahh
Freedom to make more money here and globally, yes!

Also, the bigger threat was not Islamic Extremism at the time but our military meddling in other countries.
We armed the Afghans to help push out the Soviets and they later used that experience to build a Al Queda (The Base) to carry out attacks globally.

We now sold the Saudi Terrorist State billions in weapons shipments to kill civilians in Yemen and again the same people have no problem with this.

And then we wonder if our weapons will be launched back at us, and instead of pointing the finger at the lobbyists, profiteers and MIC, we will point the finger at which "party" was in power when they attack us.

The blame goes against the profiteers and MIC RIGHT NOW.

Government by nature is a monopoly on power. There is no escape.

And renouncing “citizenship” is extremely difficult for a reason.

The U.S. is currently al-Qeada's air force.

Not difficult, impossible, or at least impractical.

You aren't really given the choice between government and freedom. You are at best given a choice between one government(IE country) and another. And for the vast-majority of people, no such choice even exists. Their choices are, for the most part, slavery or death. Or at least, slavery and destitution.

The important part of the video was when he talked about "consent of the governed". I liked that he pointed it out because most people seem to be oblivious to the fact that consent of the governed is a complete and utter myth. Why they pretend it is real is beyond me.

Stupid people, incapable of thinking for themselves, and lacking any imagination.

Exactly!
Al Queda is now our Guy.
The people that died on 911 are rolling in their graves!

We arm them in Syria to attack the Russians, Oh wait, where have we heard this before...

The people that support our foreign policies should be hung from a lamp post by their intestines.

No. Terrorism has existed since forever. Americans lost our nerve after 9/11. We have become sheep to the political whims of fear induced politics. Giving up our rights and living scared is exactly what terrorists want us to do.
