Hope the dad recovers and that the employee they interviewed is doing ok. Poor guy was hiding in the freezer and thought it was just a matter of time before it was his turn.

Can't even imagine the fear he had. He's alive, thankfully, but he's going to be jumpy for awhile, as are the kid and his dad. Hopefully they'll be alright - that's a lot for someone to go through.

Yeah, the employee in the freezer had no idea it was an exchange of gunfire that he was hearing. He just assumed the gunman was the only one armed and picking people off.
it doesnt matter to these guys who rob places, they just want the money. i worked at a hotel many years ago where i was robbed. the drawer had just been changed perhaps an hour before and we only had $200 in the drawer. had they guy come in an hour earlier he would have gotten away with more than $800 in cash. and this is why these guys rob so many places, they go in at the wrong time.
as for the OP, good for dad taking out the perp. lets hope dad ends up ok.
Thanks for the hint. What is the latest someone can go in before the cash drawer is changed?

that depends on the hotel and what time each shift starts. it also depends on how the desk clerks were trained, some of them squirrel away most of the money in the cash drawer to minimize the loss if they get held up. we started doing that in new mexico after the hotel was robbed and we lost $1500 because the clerks had all the money in the cash drawer, instead of locked away.
