Also, people like shutdowns, because Republicans were blamed for the 2013 shutdown and they won 2014 midterms.
Schumer was blamed for the recent shutdown, and Democrats won 2018 midterms (or won the House, not the Senate).
I don't want a wall, even if it costs 100 bucks. It's not the money. I don't want a wall. And most elected representatives also don't want a wall. And most American citizens also don't want a wall. I don't care if Mexico paid for it, which is a hilarious joke and all of us knew it was a complete farce. I don't want a wall.

I don't want a bug huge ugly wall going through one of the most spectacularly beautiful places on this planet.

At the end of this, a few billion will be added to Border Security.

The House will not pass $5 billion.

The Senate will not pass a bill without a few billion.

Both represent citizens, and per the US population, one has a Dem majority and the statewide race one (Senate) has a GOP majority. Both should hold firm which will result in a compromise. Leaders have admitted there is a sweet spot for a deal.

It's as if he's demanded give me this 5 billion or I'm shooting one hostage an hour. Your choice, you want government workers to get paid? Give me my 5B.

And then he sits back and waits for people who have empathy and concern for others (which he sorely lacks) to fold, and give him his ransom demand.

God when will this term be over.
This is actually just his process--the way he ham-handedly handles things--he's over his head and hasn't a clue how to actually govern. So he reverts to form--immature, angry, petulant, childish and stupid.

He broke the first rule of shutdowns--don't take credit for it. And that bottomless ego couldn't do it--he idiotically grabbed that credit before it started with a grand WH pronouncement.

The motivation is clear--Hannity, Coulter and Ingraham told him to. This guy is the weakest president ever--he takes marching orders from boneheaded pundits and brutal dictators.
