While I don't believe Federal workers are living paycheck to paycheck, most can't continue to go without pay for months, especially if they are working and not getting paid. Your going to start to run into situations were they call out sick or don't show up to work at all. With no TSA workers, no one get though airport security, with no air traffic controllers, planes can't fly, etc. While they claim Social Security checks will still be send out as normal, if your not going to get paid, are you really going to show up to work to get the checks out on time? Also no new claims can be processed, so no one else can retire, the list goes on and on.

Once this happens, I see this as the death blow to the Trump presidency, once congress realizes they can get stuff down without the president, they will simply bypass him to get legislation done.

You have it azz backwards. It will be a blow to the Democrats for not negotiating with Trump on funding for a border wall which was already approved by a bi-partisan congress back in 2006 of which both Schumer and Obama signed on for.

breaking the impasse on the budget would require republicans bailing on Trump because Pence was clear about Trump's position last night.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...cid=spartanntp

“The president has made it very clear: No wall, no deal,” Pence said. “We’re here to make a deal, but it’s a deal that’s going to result in achieving real gains on border security, and you have no border security without a wall. We will have no deal without a wall.”

though some republicans will bail, Collins has already, it is very, very unlikely enough republicans would bail on the president to override his veto.

But he does care about the American citizen, Legal immigrants and those that have suffered at the hands of illegal aliens.

It wasn't that long ago about 5 years when the top Dems including Obama himself were telling us how important border security was. What has changed? Are the Dems really that against common sense security at the border or do they hate Trump that much to spite everything he stands behind?

The Dems are playing politics with a secure America.
Does he? Is that why he did absolutely nothing to secure the border for the first two years in office? Is that why he hasn't even had a feasibility study or cost-benefit analysis performed concerning the wall since taking office? Is that why he hasn't taken a single step to implement his own published "plan" to have Mexico pay for the wall?

Meanwhile, his businesses were apparently hiring illegal immigrants, supplying them with fake employment papers, and falsifying information provided to the Secret Service to cover it up. Yes, this is definitely the guy who cares about the American citizen's plight concerning illegal immigration.

Were you as concerned about who was going to fund the wall back in 2006 when the actual wall bill was passed and it was to be soley funded by the taxpayer? So you think it's cheaper to continue paying the over $100 billion a year that illegal aliens cost us rather than the one time cost of $25 billion for the wall? Here's Trump's plan and no he shouldn't have to wait for Mexico to pay for it as it is needed now!

Was 10, now 7 Democrats in the Senate have to find GOD.
Forget about the Pelosi controlled House. They need an exorcism

What are the numbers - I ask because I don't know.

Does anyone know how many republicans will have to side with democrats to over ride a veto?

The typical OldGlory post is comprised of the following three falsities, repeated ad naseum:

1. Falsely claim that Congress enacted wall funding in 2006 (they passed funding for a fence, not a wall, hence the "Fence Act").
2. Tout fake $100 billion "cost" of illegal immigrants based on debunked study.
3. Post link to unfeasible "Mexico will pay for it" plan that, if you read it, only covers a fraction of the cost of the wall and hasn't been implemented by Trump at any point in the past 2 years.

I think the chances are small but will get bigger as time goes on. The Senate already agreed to a compromise bill, and Pelosi just sent it back to them. It's on McConnell if he won't present it back to Trump and if they don't override his veto. The Congress is equal to the President in terms of power; it's not all up to Trump. It's disconcerting to see that there are posters on here, some of them very vocal, who don't seem to understand that very basic concept.
