"Listen, I love my job and I have been willing to work for free... But how long is this going to take? I have a newborn,” he said. “I can barely afford to miss this pay period. I don’t want to lose my job but I also don’t want to lose my apartment."

They are kinda essential, the TSA is not. Essential employees are being paid........which is another discussion.

And this is only the TSA.

In 48 hours, 800,000 federal employees will miss a paycheck.

My husband is being forced to work without pay for 45. Meanwhile, my company which designs and manufactures steel mezzanines announced mass layoffs yesterday. We can't find steel plus the economy is softening. Remind me again why we're having trouble obtaining steel?

Whats needed next is for the fed gov to turn over the oversight of air travel security and air traffic to the airlines.

How is it people don't have savings to live off of? I'm pretty far left and even I don't feel for anyone who lives above their means, period.

Dems aren't interested in negotiations how is this a Trump shutdown still? They promised last time they would discuss it this time around and now they aren't even doing that. They haven't even gone after DACA citizenship which is just stupid; give us DACA and the idiot in the White House can have his fence IMO.

Fortunately for me, flying is pretty much a voluntary thing. Which I will not be doing until security, as much of a pain it can be, is back in place.

Trump confirmed the Sen. Schumer quote that he (Trump)-was willing to keep the government shutdown for months if not years just to get the wall. That is very unsettling to furloughed federal workers, those federal workers like TSA and FAA as well as the federal contractors. If I were and I missed two paychecks, I would leave. I'd also be calling my Representative and Senators too.
