The American Dream has moved to Canada

A most interesting article, which the image below does a good job of summarizing. By almost any metric that matters, the thing that has been the psyche of Americans that the "American Dream" was something to aspire to and one that was never ending, it is clear that things have changed.

The erosion has occurred over time, but it seems like in the last 20 years, it has declined in reality of being achieved.

Nothing new...

Canada also has lower income inequality, universal healthcare, mandatory paid days off for all workers, 1 year maternity leave, much cheaper higher education and daycare, higher federal minimum wage, lower crime rate, and higher standard of living especially for the lower and middle class.

America is great for the rich... that’s why moving back to Europe after many many years living in this country.

Funny how Americans don't feel the need to write articles illustrating how we are better than Canada. I'm not a psychiatrist but that would indicate to me the presence of an inferiority complex.

Btw, the current unemployment rate for the US is 4.6%, for Canada it is 5.6%.

https://data.oecd.org/unemp/unemployment-rate.htm

And that's with roughly 10 times the population.

Canada is beautiful but it is cold and life can be tough there as a result.

I guess as people in South and Central America move into America that people that can afford it and are allowed to.. or does Canada have open borders.. can move up to Canada for a better life?

The population isn't relevant - we'd have to then take the land mass and weather that the people themselves exist in, etc.- meaningless.

You certainly aren't a psychiatrist because the really important things like lifespan, infant mortality, opioid and other abuse, suicide, depression, material mortality, STD's, obesity and quite a few others pointers DO indicate that we are not making the most of what we have.

But, as others say, what else is new? I don't think even the most rabid "America First" types would say we are doing the best we could in qualify of life indicators. #37 in health care or education is nothing much to brag about.

But we "win" in terms of needless "stuff" hoarded by the masses. Definitely. The larger question is whether there is a inverse relationship between crass materialism and advanced human existence.

Toronto is not much colder than Cape Cod and Vancouver is warmer.

Actually, it's quite a diverse place and they have vast numbers of immigrants.

"More than one in five Canadians were born abroad, and 22.3% of the population belonged to visible minorities, of whom 3 in 10 were born in Canada."

Um, no.

U.S. salaries are higher than Canadian salaries for most professional people. U.S. taxes are also lower.

Did you actually look at the employment rate?

That graphic you posted is cherry-picking, only including things that Canada happens to lead in (and only leading by small margins in most cases).
Extremely unconvincing stats for the transference of the American dream to Canada.
