Because cost wise it would be approxiamately the same for a Mexican to fly into Canada and cross there. And if there is less security then also more chance for success. that should be obvious.
Mexicans can join the caravans and pay nothing. The people in Mexico who become illegals, are usually poor. Mexicans who have similar living standards as Americans, don't want to become illegal aliens in the US. It's a step down. I've socialized with a lot of the more well off Mexicans in Mexico to know this. They don't want to be in the US illegally. It does nothing for them. They don't want to be on the same level as their poor people living in the US.
Another thing to keep in mind, is that if they overstay their visa in Canada, which is what would happen, they will never be able to take that route again. If they walk across the southern US border, it's like there is no record. The can always walk back and do the same again.
And Mexicans can get fake papers saying they are from El Salvador. Do you think that is verified? We don't even verify IDs and social security cards for employment.

If Israel's walls do their job, it's because armed soldiers and sophisticated electronic surveillance are deployed there. However, tunnels are constantly being built under them and terrorists still get into the country.
