Yes, but since she was addressing the public audience ("you"), and not Congressional Republicans, it cannot be argued that she was suggesting that Congressional Republicans had to pass the bill in order to find out its contents. That is the point.

Here, it is being suggested that Democrats should allocate $5.7 billion to the general idea of building a wall and then work out the details (and even the generalities) later. Other posters were using Pelosi's out-of-context statement to argue that she previously forced others to vote on legislation without giving them any details about the specifics of the legislation, but that is quite clearly not what she said and not what happened.

to even suggest he cancel the state of the Union was rude and totally off base in my opinion. No one is thrilled about the shut down, no one is exactly jumping with joy about how the two sides refuse to bend, especially the left side, but the State of the Union should go on as is the tradition.

I know people love to cherrypick sound-bites, but here is the whole quote, in context and addressing the public audience (not Congressional Republicans).

The full text of the ACA was publicly available for months before it was voted on. You are a fool if you believe Congressional Republicans didn't know the specific contents of the bill prior to the vote. She was telling the public that Congress had to pass the ACA in order for the public to see its benefits.

She should have had you speak in her place .

The phrasing she used was idiotic, and her opponents got considerable mileage out of it.

She should have put it the way you did, rather than the way she ultimately did.....unless it was her intention to obfuscate .

The first lady does not use commercial airlines, we all know that, nor would we expect her to. she travels with secret service. I don't think the congressional members do. .
Not sure what the governmental restrictions are for traveling into a country such as Afghanistan but for official business there are many countries that are on a "list" where government personnel cannot fly into with commercial airlines for their own safety. They either fly military or contract out charter flights via Dept. of State to ensure extra security. If she wants to fly on a personal "fun" trip, she's free to do that. She may not be allowed in an official capacity though. I don't know that for sure but it could be the case.

Point taken.

Actually, the Speaker of the House is directly behind the VP, and directly ahead of the President Pro-Tempore of the Senate.

Here’s a radical thought. How about we figure out an effective way to spend the money and just do that?

It has been clear for years the far left and the far right are itching for another civil war.

Never thought the day would come that we would see the House, Senate and the POTUS destroy the USA.

People better start looking for common ground.
