Trump is the type when not getting his way. To take his bat and ball and run, so no one gets to play. Hence, the government is shutdown.

The wall is unpopular where it counts - including some vulnerable 2020 Republican senate seats.
The shutdown is going to start hurting really bAD in a bunch of Red States. Remember who are net contributors to the US Government? It's not flyover country.
The economy is not very stable as is and this is just the thing it doesn't need.

Pelosi operates in a fact-based universe. She knows that the Republican donor class are screaming at their respective Senators right now.

I'd say this really mostly lands on Trump.

There was a legitimate deal he rejected before the shutdown began. He threw a little temper tantrum and all but claimed he'd shut down the government to get what he wants, just like a two year old.

And that's where we are now.

Petulant baby.

If the Trump backers really wanted to deal with corruption, they could have primaried their Senators. What was the re-election percentage? In the 90s, IIRC. Trump is flim-flam, form over substance.

You want corruption? Republicans will show you corruption. A good many of Republican officials are under ethics investigations or have resigned due to unethical conduct. Several departments are now headed by lobbyists for the industry they are supposed to provide oversight for. Trump himself is looking at over a dozen lawsuits.

As far as elitism goes, you'd be hard pressed to find a Democrat who can match Trump for elitism. Good Lord, his wife is flying on the taxpayers' dime to Palm Beach every weekend, during a government shutdown no less. Doesn't get a whole lot more elite than that.

As to acting in their best interests of their constituents, Trump and the Republicans have run up the national debt during a time of prosperity in order to give the wealthy a huge tax cut. Now Trump is running a shakedown scam by shutting down the government. 800,000 people aren't getting paychecks, but Trump says that's fine because they are mostly Democrats anyway.

Simply posting lies doesn't change the truth of the matter.

Were you aware of that?
The optics say differently.
Sure, Trump said no more kicking the can down the road. But it is The ruling Democrats that are keeping the can rolling downhill.
Take off and jetset to Hawaii, then as soon as you get back, you got a YUGE fundraiser in Puerto Rico, then want to go on a 7 day excursion off to Europe and Middle East Asia. Sure, Pelosi has Trumps number.
If this is winning to you, I'd hate to see you lose.
Then before Trump even says a word... NO! That is bad optics.
Trump may have shut it down so the can quits getting kicked down the road, but Pelosi and Schumer own keeping it shut down as the can rolls downhill.

Ah...the gender card

I know "her policies" quite well. And, that is the reason I "can't stand" her. I "can't stand" Schumer either and know his policies quite well. Are you now going to tell me that the reason I "can't stand" him is because he's a "powerful" man?
