Yup, there's also zero years tradition of a reality TV star being elected as POTUS.

Democrats needs to stop acting so shocked that a non-politician would have the audacity to do non-political things.

The SOTU will be much more enjoyable without the Democrats present anyway. Maybe Pelosi and Chuckie can give their response from Mexico City among their constituents.

The Democrats usually end up regretting the precedents they set. Ask Harry Reid about that one.

Trump is not acting on behalf of all the American people with this wall proposal. He is only acting to please his base. As long as he keeps the government closure, he is causing pain and hardship to many, and he doesn't care, because they aren't his base. (If any of them were, I'm sure they aren't now.)

I think Pelosi is completely right that he must not be given the floor in Congress while the shut-down is ongoing. And remember that there is nothing in the Constitution about the end of January. He could give the address later, or even give it in writing. So if he chooses to give an address elsewhere, fine. No one is going to be fooled into thinking it is the real thing. Where ever it is, it will just be another rally, where he brags about how great he is, while ignoring the pain he is causing to the country.

And as far as the poll that Kibby says showed 65-70% of Americans said it was having no effect on them - I suspect that each day this goes on, that number creeps lower. I am not losing any pay over the shut-down, but my County is calling in volunteers and contributions to support the Coast Guard base in my county. I am affected when my neighbors are unjustly punished.

Do you have the same level of concern when your neighbors are unjustly murdered by illegal aliens? Answer: No. How do I know? You support the open borders Democrat Party.

Well, if the precedent is that when a president shuts down the government in a snit, he doesn't get to address the nation from the halls of Congress, I'm good with that.

It's going to be a long damn time before Republicans take control of anything after Trump is thrown out in 2020. As a nation we've had just about enough of this spoiled little brat and his tantrums.

The last election didn't teach you how unreliable those polls numbers are I see.
