No consortium of lenders would consider investing $ billions without a plan. Yet it seems Trump expects Congress to do so.

Where’s the plan?

Trump has said the wall will cost $4-22 billion and everything in between.

Trump has said is will be built of concrete and rebar. Trump has said it will be see through.

How many feet?

Exactly where?
How tall?

How much below grade, given some tunnels are 70’ deep under roads and airports?

Will it be done in phases? When will it be finished?

How much private land needs to be seized by Eminent Domain? What will this cost, including litigation and appeals? How long will this take to complete?

What is the projected annual cost to maintain?

What is the projected useful life?

Where’s the plan?

As I understand it, National Emergency :

Will likely be challenged.

Will not create funding. It will enable Trump to repurpose funds.

Will not automatically end the Shutdown

Will not allow private land to be seized via Eminent Domain.

What am I missing?

Dear Mr Trump,

Do you not understand how the democratic process works? 'Cause you REALLY suck at it.

First you get bump stocks banned by forcing the ATF to change the legal definition of "machine gun" into something overly broad and nonsensical instead of going through the correct legislative process for creating new legal restrictions and now you are about to misuse emergency power to build a 'effing wall.

This isn't America anymore, is it?

So what is this money supposedly buying? Does anyone know? Trump can't even make up his mind how much he wants. First it was $1.7 billion. Then $5 billion. Then $5.7 billion. Now it's $7 billion. And what exactly does he want anyway? Besides a wall, that is. And what material wall does he want? Concrete? Steel? Glass? Stone? Brick? Plastic? Papier-mache? How high? How thick? And where?

And does he want soldiers surrounding it? Surveillance cameras? Drones? Border patrol agents? Razor wire? Humpty Dumpty? Since we're paying for it and not Mexico (yet another lie told many times by Trump,) America has a right to know EXACTLY what we will be getting with these billions of dollars.

I don't know if that true. But say it is. I imagine only some land owners will refuse to allow the wall to be built. So that would result in certain areas having gaps in the wall. And that would be the path of least resistance, causing illegal crossing and all the related criminal activity to be funneled to their property. They may just change their minds.

Now we are dealing with thousands from central America wanting entry.

It's not that complicated. Many miles of wall has already been built. The only barrier to more miles being built is funding. The rest is details.

So what you're saying is that this National Emergency might allow Trump to tie-up funds intended for civil infrastructure and hurricane relief for a wall he still cannot build because he won't have the land.

Eminent domain lawsuits can take a decade to work their way thru the Courts. Wonder how many bridges might collapse in the interim.

No worries. Trump will have a win.

No. Far from it. The miles that were built tended to fall into two categories: (1) where it provided a clear benefit, in urban areas and (2) where there were not engineering or legal issues. As for the latter, think T - E - X - A - S. There's no "filling in the gaps" about any of this.

The only way he can win is if he cheats. So much for the man behind Art of the Deal. His deal making "abilities" seem to have abandoned him. The court dates for the first challenges to this land grab will be getting underway right when he's kicked out of office next year. It would be kind of funny if it weren't so pitiful.
