Now that I'm looking at a map of Venezuela, I can see how logistically difficult it would be for refugees to cross all those countries and make it into the United States. I am guessing that it would be practically impossible for them to get across the Panama Canal. Maybe that's why we don't hear about illegal immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border from South American countries as much as from Central American countries north of Panama.

But I still think it could reach a tipping point if things get bad enough in Venezuela. 30 million people living in god awful conditions is no joke.
