If a car suddenly stopped in front of me (it was obvious that was intentional), I do not stick around to find out why. I would have pulled around that car and drove a way. If he had a gun, my chances of getting away safely drop compared to him pulling out a golf club.
And your chances of getting away go up if you have your own firearm.

If I was getting away, why would I be shooting? The point is that I don't stick around to find out why somebody intentionally stopped in front of me. If I had a personality like that, I probably do need a gun.

Not very often would you have that option "driving around" if there is traffic or parked cars. We can what if this all day.
Most people with a CCW never fire their weapon. Simply seeing it changes fool's minds.

Perhaps. I grew up in Texas and now I live in Florida. I have never seen a real gun except on a police officer (and that is rare.) So guns in general are not a concern to me. But to equate a golf club to a gun is silly.
Sounds like the Cape Coral area is more dangerous than Miami.
Florida is not just a gun state. It is a gun-crazy state. People set up shooting ranges in their backyards. I'm very careful about cutting people off, getting in arguments - avoid just about all conflicts because you never ever know who is carrying a gun, who has anger management issues, impulse control and control freak issues.
A car in front of me at a right turn was just sitting there not turning with a line of cars in back. Everyone just started going around the car to make the right turn. It occurred to that the driver was ill or something. I thought what I really should do is check on the driver to see if he/she was alive. And then the words of a cop came back to me. "Never approach a strange car window"--and, of course, in Florida, due to the concealed carry--anyone could have a gun. Too many crazies and too many guns.
I think it is pretty sad that you have to think twice about helping people unasked in Florida, because you might get shot. And Cape Coral is a super-conservative area--wasn't South Beach on a weekend.

Most people with CCW don't show their weapon to change a fool's mind. The keep it concealed until their life is in danger and they would only use it as a means to protect their life. CCW training says only bring it out when you plan to use it(plan to pull the trigger). Using it as a warning (without a real plan to use it) is frowned upon in CCW training. This could result in the other person taking it away, or escalation where it's forced to be used but it really wasn't necessary but became necessary when the weapon was shown because it caused escalation. For example, if you show it to warn someone, they might have CCW and be a faster draw and kill you, even if you just wanted to scare them.
Your concealed carry pistol stays concealed and in its holster until you are one hundred percent certain you intend to use it for your own self-defense.

So a pedestrian, minding his own business, could've gotten murdered for "talking back" to a gunman apparently looking for trouble. But Heaven forbid anyone suggest confiscating this lunatic's firearms.
Of course, here in Florida he'd probably claim he was Standing his Ground against the pedestrian.
If the person threatened and brandished a weapon illegally he is going to prison and loosing the right to own a weapon. So who is not advocating this? I am a loud spoken anti gun control member here and I support that so what's the problem?

The problem is that, in all likelihood the gunman will pay an attorney big bucks to get him off on the felony charge, pay the thousand dollar fine for 1st degree Improper Exhibition misdemeanor, get his firearm back, rinse & repeat.

Another twisted view from the gun grabber contingent, painting this as "normal" for any sportsman or responsible NRA members. I've used firearms since age 6 and am a current NRA member and NONE of us would use a gun this way. Guns are for DEFENSIVE purposes to protect family, friends, and home. To paint all gun owners with this brush is an outrage.
