The reality is that the US infrastructure is in terrible shape almost everywhere.

Why don't we fix it? One of the big reasons we can't get off the dime is that it will require public monies to get the job done. Republicans will never support it because that would be a "socialist" idea.

Nothing is going to change, and there is little question that another major bridge collapse is coming in the near future.

Democrats rely on victimization to secure their support and votes. There's nothing better than getting paid 6 figures to solve problems that you yourself have created.

If all else fails, just blame it on slavery and oppression. That will ensure you have enough victims to secure you re-election in order to "fix" the problem until the next election.

The idea that our deteriorating infrastructure is a "Democrat" problem is of course ludicrous.

The reality is that no Administration for the last 50 years has done anything to address the problem. Why? The price tag to fix the deferred maintenance of our infrastructure is enormous, and no Administration wants to allocate the funds for this effort. Every President and Governor just wants to kick the can down the road, they want to let the next guy take the budget hit.

Republicans are really caught in a pickle over this issue; after all it will take tax monies to address this problem (and a LOT of it). But that would be a "socialist" idea, right? Funny thing is that they have no problem sinking billions into the DOD with little or no oversight.

Didn't a Republican president initiate the US Interstate System?

Why don’t all states take care of their own infrastructures instead of expecting the Federal Givernment to pay for it?

Why do all states expect the cost of repair and, when necessary, replacement of their infrastructure to be socialized?

Yet, ALL states do.

Perhaps it's time to return to the original Constitution as intended by the Founders and return to federalism. Then, rich people in these so called blue states can stop complaining about having to suddenly pay federal taxes.

Look what's happened to cities like Detroit just in 60 years. Give WV another 50 years under Republican rule and it'll be a thriving state like Texas.
What happened to Detroit was economic not political. When the Big 3 started shipping auto manufacturing overseas they killed the city. The city didn't have a very diverse economy outside of that industry hence its collapse.
West Virginia is a state with coal yet it has never prospered & still wont not matter which party rules it.

How many states could afford to do so though?
That is the bigger question.
