Why are so many Democratic big cities falling apart with third world infrastructure?

In the USA big aging cities tend to go Democratic because they are big, and have inherent problems which come with 19th century planning and construction they are stuck with. The Democrats tend to address the people issues in those settings better than Republicans do, so they get the votes.

Those cities are not big with inherent problems because of their political suasion, but vice versa. Big cities all over the world have these same issues to varying degrees (many much worse), they tend to be universal challenges to modern urban life in the 21st century.

It's relative to the population, as I noted the per capita spending for those two facilities is about $2600. If they were located in CA it's $125. You would need 20 Sadia's and 20 Los Alamos's located in CA before they reached parity.

Big cities/ large metro areas tend to have more of everything, international airports, public transportation, hotels, restaurants, world class museums, top hospitals, top universities, tourism and jobs.

The more people the more wealth, poverty and crime.

OP has often expressed a fondness for Fargo, ND with a population 1/70 th of NYC.

Not knocking Fargo but there are reasons why most people choose to live elsewhere.

Instead of infrastructure spending and maintenance that they are responsible for, liberals tend to spend money on things like:

1) Bloated, overpaid government workers salaries and benefits. At levels far above what a similar skill-set would pay in the private sector.

2) Projects that tend to be "pretty" rather than functional. Welcome signs to the town, city halls and government buildings that are edifices to extravagance and money wasting.

3) Aid to and support of criminal aliens.

4) Handouts to drug users and deadbeats. Free "shoot up" sites, needle exchange programs. Narcan. Flop houses and hot meals.

5) Lawsuits over federal laws aimed at protecting American citizens.

6) Lawsuits over any effort to utilize our natural resources.

7) Impractical, expensive "green" programs.

In short-actually doing their job, and maintaining existing infrastructure, is way, way down the list of priorities. I spend a couple weeks in LA last year for work. The highways and streets are in horrible condition-rutted, potholed, falling apart. To say nothing of being insufficient for the traffic.

Many of those problems are not just restricted to big cities, plenty of small cities and rural areas have the issues.

Don't forget about the money that Dems throw at helping illegals and their children! I will never understand why we have to educate their illegal children for FREE and give them free healthcare.

And the Dems want to let in more impoverished illegals and their numerous kids. They have no money at all and yet they are baby making factories.

Speaking of Mississippi and infrastructure, we have pot holes that have caused broken axels in cars, brown water, regular boil water advisories, we have over 500 bridges that are closed due to poor maintenance, and failing schools. Less than 10 years to retirement and moving away.

Mississippi is ran by Republicans and it's the poorest state in the USA. It has been one of the poorest states in the USA for a very long time, going back to the 1870s.

Last I checked, very few foreigners settle in Mississippi. There were some Chinese who settled in the Mississippi Delta. Most of them has since left. Some Vietnamese settled around Biloxi (the wealthier part of Mississippi) after the Vietnam War and some became fishermen. Many Vietnamese became more successful than the average Mississippian living outside of the Gulf region.

Alot of welfare dependancy in Mississippi despite not having a big safety net. And it isn't foreigners on it. Black and White Americans. Blacks here are poorer than average. Whites in Mississippi are poorer than average. All of this in Republican-ran Mississippi.
