Noting the outlier is never an effective argument. You are buying into propaganda fed to you so that you will further the interests of the "budding" marijuana industry and those who enjoy getting stoned, regardless the damage done to their families, society and themselves by virtue of their abuse.
Then you might as well advocate going back to prohibition of alcohol. In that case, how shall we raise your taxes to imprison people caught with alcohol?
Oh, they get found out and are released. If I suspect a conductor is under the influence of anything, I refuse to move the train until he is replaced. Usually a whiz quiz follows, then bye bye.
But they applied, and they worked there.
And I'm 100% sure there are more still applying, getting hired, and working there right now.

I'm generally against imprisoning people for nonviolent offenses where there is no lengthy rap sheet.
You're speaking to the wrong person in terms of paying taxes to support prisons:
1. You will never hear me complain about paying my taxes.
2. I believe we do not incarcerate enough violent people in our system and have told many people that I will gladly pay more in taxes to take these violent, dangerous people who disproportionately victimize the least among us.
Out of curiosity, where do you stand on the biggest conspiracy theory of our time, the ludicrous "School-to-Prison Pipeline" hypothesis? Is all this a grand conspiracy among teachers, school administrators, cops, prosecutors, judges and juries?
But they are sober and not drunk or stoned on artificial intoxicants.
Hmmm.......if we are talking biology, there is little (or no) difference between many of the mind bending experiences. Molecules are, by nature, not artificial. Whether the molecule is produced by your chanting and jumping up and down with 500 others while listening to music or by a sip of wine, it's basically the same.
Think about amusement parks. All they really are is stimuli which makes your brain and body create "artificial levels" of stuff so you feel "high".
I don't think we should discriminate between whether we get "the buzz" from sour candy, an amusement park, cutting into a big steak or a look of love (or desire) in another's eyes. All drugs.
There are, obviously, some "groups" that use stimuli or lack of (celibacy, peyote, rastafarian) to force the body and mind into particular states of consciousness.
I tend to repeat stories, so excuse me for that.
A few years back I did a 10 day silent meditation retreat. It was the hardest thing I ever did - definitely much heavier than the old drug trips or even mental breakdowns, grief, etc.
I sat for about 11 hours a day. Just sat. After about a week I started to get into it where I actually felt "the drug" after sitting for a while. By day 10 I was feeling it quite strongly. I recognized the feeling...I had felt it before.
Opiates. Really.
I guess that's why they say religion is the opiate of the masses. Or one reason anyway. Actually, I think that saying relates to the fact that "Masters" often allow their "chattel" to practice religion as their only real freedom (African Americans, etc.). It was somewhat of a pressure relief valve on the situation...where at least the slaves could feel a bit of community and pleasure.
Same goes with other suffering populations who have been told not to seek happiness or pleasure in this life - instead, work for "the man" and you will perhaps find paradise after you pass away.
Would shooting up a theater or a church or terrorist attacks be acceptable examples in this category? Since we're discussing surprising things, you might be surprised how many of the folks I just mentioned have turned out to be habitual marijuana abusers.
All a coincidence, I'm sure.
Lmao what a delusional post.
You’re insinuating that weed can make you violent?
It has the exact OPPOSITE effect on the vast majority of people.
It makes you calmer and makes you like other people more.

I feel less likely to choke people at work or in general.
