There was a time when we as a society understood that it was inappropriate for a man to hold a woman's breast in a public place, in front of a child no less. And there was a time when we as a society understood that it was inappropriate to allow such a thing to be photographed, and to purposely disseminate such a photograph. And I am convinced that we were a better place when these things were understood. If that makes me a prude, then so be it.
I don't see that as acceptable nor is it common but with social media schools are put in a very akward position. The culture has become more open but we didn't have social media like to day back in the 60's and 70's, that is the difference. They were not immune to this behavior back then.
At a minimum, I'd fire her for stupidity. I think it's too easy to become a teacher these days.
She didn't do anything stupid unless you know something we don't. teaching positions on Long Island are very hard to come by and extremely rewarding. She will be getting a big payday.
You asked for examples of teachers getting fired for lesser *sins*. It's still an example.

You may not think it's stupid to allow such photos to be taken, but it's stupid. How many times have we heard horror stories about photos like this because of either hacking or due to revenge?
Exactly -- poor judgement. You want someone in middle school teaching kids who makes that kind of life choice.....forget it.
"Life choice"? Sending one topless photo to a romantic partner is a life choice? Who really cares? I wouldn't have any issue with this woman teaching my children. She is the victim here, a private photo was distributed without her consent.

It's a stupid choice, given the risk involved.
Poor example since the teacher purposely posted the picture and not the case here.
This is the kind of thing that happens when parents don't reinforce the concept of consequences for actions. Long gone are the days when a Polaroid Instamatic photo can be hidden in a box in the closet, where typically no one will ever see it until that person dies. In today's world if a person creates an electronic image of anything, they should expect to see it on the internet and they should expect to face the consequences of having created it.
But then again, that's just MY opinion, for what it's worth.
