She didn't do anything stupid unless you know something we don't. teaching positions on Long Island are very hard to come by and extremely rewarding. She will be getting a big payday.
So sending half-naked photos (easily obtained by a student) to her boyfriend isn't stupid? I went to school on Long Island. It's too easy to become a teacher, these days. And who gives a hoot about how extremely rewarding it is for teachers? They should give them all psych tests and test their subject matter expertise.

I don't disagree with your last sentence, but the point was that a photo sent to her presumably ADULT boyfriend who should not have any contact necessarily with her students, should not have been "easily obtained by a student" at all.
And that's one significant question we don't seem to have an answer for...how did he get it?
I have tons of data on my personal devices that I don't want just anyone to "easily obtain." I could certainly do damage control if they did, but I'd really rather not. I think that's the case for most people.
The teacher shouldn't have been fired for this. The photo was leaked without her knowledge. What's conveniently left out is how the student obtained the photo. My guess is the angry ex-boyfriend posted the photo on a porn site and the student found it on there.
If anything, the student should have been punished.
Also, America needs to get over the "boobies are bad" mentality. They are simply breasts and every woman has them.

Do you have proof that she sent the picture to her boy friend, all we know is that one student ended up with the picture so unless the district can prove that she is personally responsible its a weak case. Yes it is difficult to break in as a teacher in Long Island because the salaries and benefits are excellent.
I would give the school board a psych test for going off half cocked, I wonder if their legal team recommended this action.

From what I've seen she has maintained that she did indeed sent the picture to her now ex-boyfriend a year or three ago. How one of her current students ended up with it is the mystery.
The school board has no choice in the matter probably. It most likely has an adopted social media policy which outlines what's allowed and the penalties. If "student receives nude photo of teacher" mandates termination then that will happen.
Just as an aside, we had to acknowledge receipt of a copy of our social media policy and stipulate, by signature, that we understood it and had received in service training on it. And we still constantly had teachers run afoul of it.
My kids district includes a morals clause for employees. My friend who works at the school isn’t even a teacher but is very careful to not even have a glass of wine in any photos that go on FB. I don’t think a morals clause is unusual. These young teachers think they can do whatever they want with no repercussions. They need to develop some common sense and not send anything out that could ever come back to haunt them.
This is very smart. Once it goes on the internet it can be "preserved" instantly - never truly deleted.
it depends on how the student got the picture. Did he stole it or did her ex-boyfriend put it out in public without her consent.......then she is the victim and she should get a lawyer.
Oh please. She sent a private picture to her boyfriend. What do you expect, that's she a nun until marriage?
I'm just curious how this student got that picture. And who her boyfriend was, was he a former student? These questions need answers.
Her ex-boyfriend is another fellow teacher in the district.
