1974?

That's a trick question. You were already in a recession when the yield inverted, so no.

1979?

Nope.

2000?

Nope.

2006?

Nope.

What were you saying?
Somebody here doesn't understand yield curve inversions.

They are a leading indicator, not a coincident one.

We weren't in a recession in 1959, but there was a recession in 1960.

Yes, we were indeed in a recession in 1970.

We weren't in a recession in 1974, but there was a recession in 1975.

We weren't in a recession in 1979, but there was one in 1980.

We weren't in a recession in 2006, but the recession began in late 2007.

Got it?

The only exception was 1966, though the economy came close to a recession in 1967.

The party is over. The market's irrational exuberance in the face of a global slowdown and Trump's bungling is hard to fathom. I think we are on the verge of a BIG selloff when the reality finally starts to hit home.

Show me a thread where "Rightists" are saying anything about a recession. Meanwhile, you've got plenty of threads here from Trump-hating Leftists predicting a recession, some of these threads are a year old.

There's been, like, a half-dozen threads recently about a potential upcoming recession, some of them started by rightists complaining about all the recession talk.

Here's one started by a rightist:
//www.city-data.com/forum/polit...recession.html

And another one started by a rightist:
//www.city-data.com/forum/polit...on-2020-a.html

Got it? Maybe you haven't been paying attention to the threads in here lately.

Yep a bunch of "leftists" predicting a recession. Now of course this follows 8 years of "rightists" lying about the economy when Obama was running things.

Yup. Is the bond market "leftist?" Rightists avoid that question.

What would that matter? I prayed for Michael Jordan to miss game winning shots and he kept making them. I prayed for Brady to choke against the Falcons and he came back from a 3-28 deficit at halftime.

Trump is supposed to be the greatest on the economy. If he is indeed the greatest, then the economy should not go into recession. If it does go into recession, that means he's a failure.

Period.

You misunderstand the posts completely...that's on you.

There is no hope for a recession.

There is concern that we might once again ignore the clues that there might be a recession.

We've had 10 years of recovery -- record setting recovery and it is normal to be concerned that some traditional economic indicators are pointing towards symptoms of a recession.

No the media hasn't declared a recession -- nor can they make it happen.
No -- the 'lefties' aren't hoping for a recession.

Nobody said that, implied it inferred it.

Perhaps some folks have a bias and wish to think that might be...but that's like hoping for unicorns......
