FWIW, on the political angle, I was actually expecting that a recession would occur sometime in the current POTUS's term no matter who was elected in 2016. Starting around 2015 it was getting clear that the expansion was getting long in the tooth and was starting to exhibit some late-cycle behavior. So when Trump won I was surprised but not all that upset because I thought there was a high probability of a recession no matter who was elected, and I'd rather have it happen under Trump (though I was no fan of Hillary either).

I too said on here back in 2016 that there would likely be a recession no matter who was elected. Trump has done a great job on the economy, but a recession will happen again, its always just a matter of time.

With that said, the trade issues with China must be resolved for our long term economic, and national security well being. With tax cuts, wages substantially outpacing inflation, and the lowest unemployment in 50 years, there is no better time to take on the trade issues with China.

President Trump has my full support.
