Let's get it straight...
Government criminalizes the unlicensed trade and practice of medicine and prices go .... UP!
Government granted monopoly shuts down medical schools, creating a shortage of physicians, and prices go .... UP!
Government corrupts the money system with worthless notes and counterfeit fractional coin causing prices to go ... UP!
Government authorizes underwriters / insurers to skim even more from the overcharged patient, who now must support a legion of clerks, form fillers, and bureaucrats causing prices to go .... UP!

And now, we're to believe that letting government take over healthcare - akin to the power over life and death - as a remedy for all past meddling by government.

"What fools these Merikans be!"

Bull****. You have no idea what the study says, and neither do we. Your article doesn't link to it, and we must presume that our intuition is correct: Medicare for all would be a financial catastrophe.

Good try, but you left out the biggest cause: Government imposes wage freeze during World War II, so employers give employees health insurance instead of pay raises so that the payer is no longer the patient.

From ABC News:
Quote:
...according to the report, even doubling all currently projected federal individual and corporate income tax collections would be “insufficient” to finance the costs of Medicare-for-All.
Do people realize that folks paid for years to get the benefit and that there are not insignificant monthly premiums per person (no family rate), deductibles and copayments - I think many younger folk think Medicare has relatively little out of pocket costs, which is only true if pay more for additional coverage. It is also essentially a socialistic tax because if you make more, you are required to pay more. This potentially could also be a big break for businesses as costs for medical coverage shifts to workers from employers.

This is bad all the way around.

It works just like car insurance. It's a very low chance that you'll ever get into accident, but if/when you do, the insurance exists to cover the damage and even help you buy a new car if it's totaled. It also covers you if, heaven forbid, you're at fault in the accident and the other car owner comes after you for reimbursement.
and health INSURANCE was never intended to cover every sniffle you think you have

. the whole problem is insurance (both governmental and private)..

why should you EXPECT some entity (or someone else) to pay YOUR BILL

I can open up the yellow pages and look up ANY doctor and make an appointment...and be seen...but like any other service they expect to be paid

when your car needs a tube up, or an annual inspection (exam)..do you call your auto insurance to file a claim....nope

when your house needs a new washer, or a paint job or new windows......do you call your home owners insurance to file a claim....nope

the WHOLE problem is the entitlement mentality, they YOU..yes YOU..EXPECT some one else to pay you bill

The vast majority would never afford long term oncology or even a major surgery such as a heart bypass. So should they just die?
