If the OP is referring to Paul Ryan’s recent interview on PBS News Hour I would say he was about 50-50 on Trump. Although there was some praise he was also very critical of Trump’s views and policies on trade and immigration as Ryan has long been an advocate for free trade and supporter of immigration reform.
Ryan is also a fiscal conservative and highlighted his disagreement with Trump on reforming entitlement programs in an effort to curb the ballooning budget deficit. Specifically, Trump refuses to touch the programs while Ryan felt they needed to be reformed to counteract the revenue shortfall that would accompany the tax cut.

Ryan is a little weasel who cowered in the House for two years because he was too cowardly to do his job. Who cares what he has to say now?
As for why the rest of the GOP is silent, no one wants to get Trump's stink on them. Weasel Ryan has nothing to lose any more, but a lot of these guys will be around after Trump is long gone, and will have to deal with the fallout. They saw the sentiment of the country shift dramatically against them in 2018, mostly due to Trump. Who can blame them for keeping their distance? It's actually a smart thing to do.
Kinda reminds me of 2008 when John McCain made sure he kept his distance from Bush. In his book, “Decision Points”, Bush said that he didn’t think it made sense for McCain to avoid him and actually thought he could help McCain win. Hell, if anything, Bush’s involvement probably would’ve cost McCain even more votes.
Even now, the GOP is largely silent when it comes to Bush. I see the same happening with Trump after he leaves the White House.
So Trump is an ass hole and gets praised for not taking crap, but anyone else who utters even the slightest criticism of him gets blasted as an America hating far leftist. Yep, right wingers kneel at the altar of Trump.
Paul Ryan was the weakest House Speaker in several generations. An inept buffoon who sputtered and stumbled into retirement, with Trump supporters mocking him along the way. But now he wants attention and he knows all he needs to do is say nice things about Trump and the Trump worshipers will like him for a few minutes.

We do not seem to hear much about Barack Obama either. Considering that his "Legacy" is in ashes, that is entirely understandable.
