Senate vote on war powers requiring congressional approval for Iran military action is defeated !!!

Trump doesn't need congress to approve a military strike on Iran !!! Defeat of the fearmongers !!!
Foolish amendment fails !!!

60 Yea votes needed and with 41 no votes on record now it can't pass.

Congress isn't known for quick action and sometimes it takes them decades before they act on something even when there is agreement on what should be done.

The Senate is meeting early on Friday to vote on an amendment that would require President Trump to seek congressional approval before ordering military strikes. The amendment is not expected to get the 60 votes necessary to pass, but was forced by Democrats to get lawmakers on the record on the issue amid rising tensions with Iran.

So, OP, you want our president to be able to do whatever he wants anywhere in the world without having to answer to anyone? Is that REALLY what you want? Do you hate this country so much you would hand over complete and unrestricted power to executive branch with absolutely no checks or balances allowed from the other EQUAL branches of government?

That's about the most un-American thing I've seen posted here in a long time.

Interesting how the same executive power didn't seem to matter when Obama was drone striking innocents abroad, destabilizing nations, fomenting coups and arming terrorists.

The Democrats and the left loved it when 0bama did exactly that, when all on his own he went to war with Libya, without a word to Congress or the American people before he launched the bombers.

So.... do Democrats and the left really give a crap, or is this just another hypocritical partisan flip-flop, by the TDS afflicted?

You mean the GOP started wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that were already ongoing?

That's like comparing a potato to an orange when talking about starting a moronic war with Iran.

The same reason I support individuals right to be armed !!! When seconds count the police are minuets and sometimes hours away !!!

A quick and decisive military strike can be a deterrent to war !!!

A long drawn out debate about it in congress encourages our adversaries to attack us !!!
They could attack us repeatedly before congress comes to any agreement and as we have seen the democrats have no desire to defend America or Americans !!! Without borders we are not a country but just a place on the map anyone can occupy !!!

No, I think they were referring to the Bosnian War. But of course, the media was in favor of that war, so that makes it different.

John Bolton is celebrating today. He is being handed his beloved Iran war on a silver platter by the Senate Republicans. All those defending this own what's coming.

The constitution is very clear on this. The president does not have the authority to start any war without the Congressional approval.
