The biggest problem is the amount of power the Corporate and Banking Elite have over our government.
In Capitalism, all parties should have equal power. If the power gets to one sided, then we have things happening like trade with slave labor or Communist Nations.

This suppresses wages for the working class Americans at home.
I know it is not politically correct to say working class Americans these days, but that was how it was always used back in the day.

The capitalist class are quite happy with taking advantage of other economic systems when they are on the winning end. But if they are own the losing end where it comes out of their pockets, then they scream bloody murder.

Without getting into what others have said and there is truth in all of it, I find the biggest problem is that as a whole the two parties are the same party. Same greed, same lust for power and money.

Social media has allowed people with extreme views to spread those far and wide, and our education system has not kept up with the need for critical thinking to examine those extreme views logically. Our education system also has not given citizens a longer view and historical perspective; we have become a slogan/soundbite/texting society, which wants only the "headline." We don't look beneath the surface to motivations, history, precedents, and implications. Our text books tend to give two dimensional views, and do not invite children to think critically and logically.

Many.... but the biggest one by far is the lack of a 3rd (or more) party with a chance to win elections.

It's either the socialist / illegal immigration / healthcare for everyone / run up the debt democrats OR

It's the big business / illegal immigration / cheap labor / run up the debt republicans

The problem isn't the politicians. it's the people who elect the politicians.
