Weird to read all these negative encounters. Most of my co-workers are South Indian and they are very cordial with me, if not a little too chatty at times. The only co-workers I've ever clashed with was one alcoholic guy who tried to get testy with me once until I shut that sht down, and a woman who tried to throw me under the bus once. Both were Americans.

Guess I've been pretty lucky? Though I still don't like the practice of foreigners displacing American workers at all.

After years of reading BigDGeek's posts about these issues, I finally had my own encounter a few months ago with a client who was so rude, arrogant, and stubborn that I snapped. I sounded like a maniac, screaming on the top of my lungs at him - which I NEVER do - and told him to take his work elsewhere. I don't feel the need to raise my voice to get my point across, but I'd had it. He wanted everything done yesterday, kept attacking me over the mutually agreed upon time frame, which was being adhered to, offered to pay me thousands under the table to make his project a priority, which offended me and I refused, and then got vicious when I wouldn't bend. After losing my **** and hanging up on him, he called back to apologize and ask that we continue working with him. I agreed, but not before telling him he was insufferable and I wouldn't put up with that. So far, he's remained a meek puppy, constantly telling me how much he appreciates all we're doing for him.

I think you have to bash some people over the head harder than they're trying to bash you, in order to get any kind of respect.

I want them here. I just don’t want to put up with their apparent air of superiority. I’m hoping not to be forced to choke one of those imperious idiots.

But for now, they’re small potatoes compared to the recent cockiness of Trump supporters. A huge portion of them need their necks wrung for talking further out of school than they’d ever done before he got elected.

Yep....and here we are creeping onto page 3 and we wouldn't have even gotten remotely this far if I hadn't made the racism being "unattractive" to the media.

Let's be brutally honest. The media generally only promotes stories where they can run the "white person vs. minority" angle. Hey, I get it...it sells. Just like the equally unfair "super predator" etc. era of demonizing young black men.

These days, you're more likely to see some white woman in a bee-fight with a neighbor slinging the n-word making national news than you are to see a black serial killer making national news for targeting and stalking white guys. (actually happened)

Dude, I live in an area with FANTASTIC public schools.

Indian, Pak, Chinese kids around here (plus mine) destroying the top scores in math etc. competitions.

It's not the schools buddy. It's the soft, cushy, US lifestyle and culture....in the US being great in school = nerd.

Same complaint my sibling makes about their medical field.

All theses American kids seem interested in it until....ooops! Wow, that's a lot of hard classes! <transfers to business, teaching etc.>

That has been my life for the last 7-8 years. Day in, day out. People don't understand it until they experience it and even then, many are prone to dismiss it as a one-off or an example of one person being a complete douchebag. I'm so used to people trying to push me under the bus that my back is covered in handprints and I cover my ass militantly and without thought.

I don't like how abrupt, blunt, and sometimes rude I have to be to the Telugu tribe sometimes. It annoys me that I have to behave that way to them to get anything done, and I don't like for other Americans to witness it. People from other parts of India get it (and they treat them the same way).

I actually have no beef with people from some parts of India. They have by and large treated me with courtesy and respect and I do the same in return. Some of my favorite coworkers at my present job are north Indians. They dislike the behavior of the Andhra crowd as much as I do.

Don't you believe anything your client is telling you. He's acting like a meek puppy because you made him do it. He's not sorry and he'll continue to behave that way with anyone who will put up with it. Cover your ass and get everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) in writing. Save everything. Record your phone calls if you have to. I've seen this before where they say one thing to guy A, then deny all of it when guy B asks about it. Then it's on you to make him into a liar.

No, they won't. They'll just be more carefully concealed.

Whites and American Indians are the only races that can be talked out of racist practices.
