Majority of PR citizens support statehood and 2/3rds of those in the 50 states support it as well.

But as long as Republicans can block it they will.

No they aren't. The US only taxes income earned from the US. Just as we tax anyone else in the world.

They are US citizens; they pay tax. No citizen can get out of paying those social security and medicare taxes.

Ahh yes, racism seen right here on C-D. Why am I not surprised? Disgusting thread.

PR is US owned and it’s up to us to take care of it somehow. If you don’t want it, then why still hold on to it. To call it outright a cesspool and garbage is un-American. Guess you’re just echoing bigoted Trump’s words.

You may want to qualify that.

It would be like adopting a child that is constantly going to prison and needing money.

And they receive social security and medicare benefits. Btw, there is nothing whatsoever in the Constitution or federal code that says no taxation without representation. If they don't like it, they can part ways but they are net recipients in both.

Actually, no.

"U.S. citizens who have lived all year on the island are exempt from filing taxes to the federal government of the United States as long as all of your income was from Puerto Rican sources only. However, if you receive income from anywhere else in the world, including the United States and/or if you are an employee of any agency of the United States in Puerto Rico, you must submit a form to the federal government. So you shouldn’t file a tax return for the U.S. if you meet either of the following requirements:
  1. You’re a bona fide resident of Puerto Rico during the entire tax year, and
  2. Your only income is from sources within Puerto Rico."

Do people think the U.S. got nothing out of the P.R. relationship? Military speaking the US Navy got a lot. Google Rosy Roads and Viques for some education.

Maybe we should do to Kansas what we did at Viques. Use it for target practice.
