No, living well and using every possible resource is consistent with the pursuit of happiness and greater productivity. Future generations will solve and adapt to global warming. Relocation and rebuilding will provide for millions of jobs. Robots can’t rebuild cities, so this is a golden opportunity. Imagine Manhattan being rebuilt over the course of decades further West on higher ground in Bergen, Hudson, and Essex Counties. Same with Miami and New Orleans and hundreds of other cities. Relocation equals endless financial and employment opportunity. New building methods will be developed to handle the weather. Vast new areas of the globe formerly too cold for agriculture will now start to become arable. There is plenty to look forward to in the warm new world. And all of the “cataclysmic” predictions? Engineering problems. Nothing more.

So for now, we should be concentrating on freedom, individualism, Capitalism, and individual rights. That will set up a fertile environment for the innovation and ingenuity that will easily deal with AGW.

What we should not be doing is indulging in the maudlin Greta Garbage approach of tears and flailing and hysteria and foot-stomping.

So take what you can now, give the middle finger to the future because “they can adapt”.

So if I burn down the woods next to your house(if thats where you lived), then its ok because you can adapt if it burns down your house or you get health problems from smoke..

Here is a little excerpt from a current report on the United Nations IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) website:

Quote:
Synergies between adaptation and sustainable development are significant for agriculture and health, advancing SDGs 1 (extreme poverty), 2 (hunger), 3 (healthy lives and well-being) and 6 (clean water) (robust evidence, medium agreement). {5.3.2} Ecosystem- and community- based adaptation, along with the incorporation of indigenous and local knowledge, advances synergies with SDGs 5 (gender equality), 10 (reducing inequalities) and 16 (inclusive societies), as exemplified in drylands and the Arctic (high evidence, medium agreement). {5.3.2, Box 5.1, Cross-Chapter Box 10 in Chapter 4}
Gender equality. Extreme poverty. Reducing inequalities. Inclusive societies.

Just a little taste, there’s much, much more if you visit the website. AGW is a progressive-collectivist political agenda, and that agenda is hiding in plain sight. Envy is the motor. Wealth is the disease. Climate is the tool. Redistribution of wealth is the cure. Not a conspiracy, not hidden, a plainly stated agenda.

Adaptation has been occurring as a consequence of human development for our entire existence. It should be expected to continue. In fact, it is happening now. Adaption is opportunity from change.

Burning down the woods would be a property crime, and crime is not something we adapt to, it is something we punish.

Point is that lets say I had my side if the woods and burned that down. It affected you.

The issue is that pollution doesn’t care about property lines.

And I agree, progress is good. But as long as we use newer ways to achieve that are better for the future in the long run.

You may think your isolated but what you do may affect someone somewhere else or sometime else.

I am responding to Odanny. Greta decided to enter the adult arena on her own, unless she was indoctrinated to enter it. Same as when a 16 year old gets a driver's license, they enter the adult arena, under adult rules. She is vilified for trading on her youth and her dreams; using her vulnerability as a young person with special needs as a sword, not a shield.

I do understand the way Asperger's works. Its victims typically develop an interest in an abstract subjct and are unable to regulate their fascination. I am sorry and wish that she could get the strategies to work around and ameliorate her problems. It is not up to the wider community to stand down, however.
