Where is the vote on the floor for impeachment? They didn't have the numbers before. If a vote was called and passed this would allow the Republican's the capability of doing an investigation and subpoena people that could hurt their cause. I guess they don't want that so let play this game of an illegal witch hunt.

It would also force Democrats in moderate or conservative leaning districts to vote on this, which will likely be a career-ender for many of these people. Nancy Pelosi is trying to find a way to spare them that. Not unselfishly, either. Because if the Democrats lose 18 seats in the House, Nancy Pelosi will get to kick off 2020 by handing the Speaker's gavel to Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

It will never go to a vote. The hammer is about to fall.

Ken
We did.
But the Dems scored a Pyrrhic victory, which will lead them to defeat. No new voters will be attracted to the party of AOC and Pelosi. In fact, there were 17 Representatives elected because they said they would not support Pelosi. And it turned out the Dems got stuck with her, anyway....
Those 17 are up for reelection, along with 31 others who live in Trump supporting areas.
As you said, voters count. And 49 out of 50 will support Trump.

Build The Wall. Confirm conservative justices. Keep Dems out of The Oval office. Not much else counts.

These Democrats don't realize that if they impeach Trump and the Senate doesn't confirm it... then it nullifies Trump's first term and he gets to run two more times. Read the Constitution, people! Trump 2024
Impeachment nullifies the 22nd Amendment. It's the Groundhog's Day of amendments that resets the clock for another Trump election every time duh

There is no vote on impeachment yet, as they are still doing their investigations.

There is supposed to be a vote to formally start the impeachment investigation. There always has been such a vote in the past and the Democrats are trying to avoid taking that vote like the plague.

A little explanation about an impeachment inquiry from the following article. So no, a vote does not have to happen first.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ry/2430212001/

"The U.S. Constitution gives the House the sole power to impeach a federal official. Individual House members can introduce impeachment resolutions like ordinary bills, or the House could initiate impeachment proceedings by passing a resolution authorizing an inquiry.

The House Judiciary Committee, which has jurisdiction over impeachment proceedings, decides whether to pursue articles of impeachment against the accused official and can hold hearings to review the accusations. If the committee votes to approve articles of impeachment, the formal charges move to the full House for consideration.

The House votes on each of the articles of impeachment separately and can approve them with a simple majority of those voting. If all 435 House members vote, then 218 votes would be needed."

If they want to handle this in a serious and responsible manner, extending due process rights to the accused, then the initial vote is what provides all of that. It has ALWAYS been done that way in the past.

But if the impeachment exercise is just a nakedly partisan kangaroo court operation, as this effort is clearly shaping up to be, then it probably makes sense just to skip all of that "Due Process" stuff. That could interfere with the achievement of the predetermined political outcome of the party trying to take out their political adversary by weaponizing the impeachment process.

And make no mistake, the latter approach is what is being attempted here.
