Apparently, he also admitted while being interviewed by Chris Cuomo "of course I did" when asked whether he had asked the Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden.
That is exactly the point, though. If he is asking a foreign leader to act in a manner designed to further American interests, that is perfectly fine. If he is asking a foreign leader to act in a manner designed to further his personal political interests, then it is not ok.

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy on Thursday demanded Speaker Nancy Pelosi suspend the Democrats' impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump until Congress can agree on 'transparent and equitable rules' in the process.
His offensive move comes as some Republican lawmakers have been grumbling that the White House has not had a concise, planned response to the Democrats' move.
'I am writing to request you suspend all efforts surrounding your 'impeachment inquiry' until transparent and equitable rules and procedures are established to govern the inquiry,' McCarthy, a loyal Trump ally and prominent defender of the president, wrote.

What a mess this is turning out to be for the Dems. Talk about blowing up in their faces. Actually, I am not surprised so much by that. But who thought it would happen so quickly?
If Trump believes that Biden did something illegal or corrupt, why didn't he ask US law enforcement agencies (like the CIA and the FBI) to investigate Biden? They have the international assets to launch such an investigation. Why would he personally call the Ukraine (and publicly solicit investigative help from China) instead?
Barr is already on it. Trump is asking for cooperation.
