That's what I've been saying for some time. White SJW's have been getting upset on behalf of people they feel the need to take up for - when those people couldn't care less and don't need their help OR the **** stirring.
They're a group of divisive, punitive, miserable people who should seek help.
“New rule, you cant be more offended than the victim.”
He goes on to talk about how Yang did not want the SNL writer to be fired, and how liberals subsequently called Yang a racist. Then some more interesting points on “white shaming”.
I thought he was spot on here. No doubt, some more liberals will go on to disown him for his continued blasphemy.

Bill Maher is a racist bigot. What else would one expect from this smug moron? This is his attempt to get some publicity, even negative publicity is of value. Racists love it. Trump knows that.
SNL generally parodies whoever the president is. They certainly did a number of sketches on Obama. It’s really undeniable though that Trump provides a LOT more material for them.
It is different than it used to be. The jabs at Obama were pretty benign. In their defense, so were the jabs at president Ford back in the day. These days, they treat republicans with a lot more vitriol than they used to.
But that is not really what we are talking about here. And it is not just SNL. Comedians used to be able to poke fun at people without having to worry about liberal social media activists creating “movements” against them. There is a difference between that, and truly racist statements, which should be called out. We should all be able to laugh about ourselves, without becoming offended all the time. The current culture doesn’t seem to know where that line is, and that creates disharmony. To you, this may be a good thing, but to me, it just makes life a little less fun.

Oooh. So many racists out there these days.
You should try watching a Comedy Central Roast. Your head will explode.

There is another thread on SD about the comedian Lilly Singh and a lot of offense being taken at her white shaming.
So yes, it is funny until the comedy attacks what you value - your whiteness. So if you value anti-racism, racist jokes are not funny. And if one is an anti-racist you will protest.
Bill Maher does not have a clue about any of this. He is in some frozen time and all this is too much for him to understand.
The OP is a much closer "friend" to me than a Celebrity.......
Of course, we must remember when the Right Warmongers had Bill thrown off TV for happening to make a true statement as a joke (that launching Cruise Missiles from a ship 500 miles away doesn't require the bravery of an infantryman running into a machine gun....)

I don't always agree with Maher but calling him a racist bigot? Come on. What evidence do you have to support this claim?

If we all can acknowledge when our own “side” takes things too far, we will all be better off.
That said, I think Bill’s timing of his statement was more damaging than the actual statement itself. It wasn’t smart of him to make it at such a politically charged time. I agree that he shouldn’t have been taken off the air for it though.
I don't listen to Maher the comedian for political discussion any more than I'd listen to Roseanne Barr for her opinions. Not sure why he seems to be followed so closely by his critics on the right.
I don’t know that I follow him closely. I have been watching him from the beginning because I think he is funny. I don’t have to always agree with someone in order to like them.
