It still has a long way to go. The vote next week (according to unnamed sources) is in the Judiciary Committee. It would still need to get through the House, which it might do. Not so sure about the Senate.
55 cosponsors, which is something, but all but one of those is a Democrat.
When I worked concert security we were happy to smell weed in the air. It meant people who are easy to deal with. The alcohol tents on the other hand...
It will be interesting to see what the DEA does if it passes...they have stated in the past they would not even consider lowering it on the schedule list, so Im not sure what they would do if it was taken out of their hands.
It won't be a lot different than the treasury department with the end of prohibition. The department won't be cut-the federal government is a jobs program. They will find something else to make illegal just to keep them around.
This is great news. It is about time that they have a vote for this measure. Too many people have had their lives ruined over being busted with marijuana. Moving in the right direction on this one.

That's all well and good until you take your car to a mechanic and he installs mufflers on the intake manifold !!! Can't do anything to him, now the law is on his side !!!

McConnel will never allow this to pass or even be heard in the Senate, even if it does pass the house.
Sorry, but we’ll have to wait until Democrats control both houses and the White House or wait 15-20 years for more weed-friendly Republicans to take control of the party before there will be any movement on this.

Nit sure what you mean here.
Assuming you mean that people will be high all the time and not do their jobs properly, that isn't what this would mean. Just like alcohol being legal but people aren't supposed to be drunk at work.
Does it happen sometimes, yes. It happens now. And if the work is done improperly you have remedies. Legalizing marijuana will not lead to auto mechanics installing the worng parts on cars writ large and it certainly won't mean they won't be required to remediate it where that were to occur under consumer protection laws.
