I am not sure what options the media has. Does it simply refuse to cover breaking news until final reports are available...likely months to years later? That course would simply leave the communication channel to the social nets. Talk about widely inaccurate. Is that what you folks want?
Your smart enough to know the media blew this up because the sjw mob and maga hat

Nope. The media accurately reported what was on the social media which was also accepted by the school and catholic church. It was wrong and corrected quickly.

And again. What is it you would have had the media do?

Ask around for more video, eye witness accounts (which by your own admission came to light in rather short order)?

You know, day #1 at journalism school type of stuff.

The mom made it political. Maybe all she could think of? The boy was bullied as are a million more poor kids. The kids are not political. They just out of control.

That is what they did. Initially there was nothing but the stuff from the Indians on the net. They had to find out who was involved and get in touch with them. All done and the truth came out on the evening of the day after and was all over the media the day after that.

There did not appear to be any significant reporter presence at the actual event. No reason there would have been. You don't generally cover a high school departing a parade.

So you're admitting that in their haste to "be first"/and-or promote a narrative they only went with the few videos that they could easily find, never asked folks on the ground what happened, and furthermore never asked those same folks if they had any videos? You know, before they went to press.

On the bold: Do you know about the existence of cell phones, computers, and social media? I mean...you aren't expecting the rest of us to be as obtuse as you are, are you?

Again, such a petty line of bs. White male, maga hat. That was the story for days. Media went with it far too long and loud. And you know why.

They do not know who was there. All they have is a couple of people from the Indian movement sending tweet videos getting millions of hits. So they have available only a few contacts from one particular side.

The high school kids are traveling as all this breaks loose. And neither the high school or the diocese are going to be reachable until the next day and they are going to be very cautious until they get some view from those present. And their initial view of the situation was also wrong.

And it was the publishing by other bystanders of the longer videos that finally brought clarity to the situation.

So the media did their job as well as could be expected under the circumstances and began to correct the situation about 24 hours after it got started.

If the media had not gotten involved it would likely have been Sunday before they would have had anything giving the incorrect social media view another day to run. That would, if anything, have made it worse. Particularly after the school and diocese apologized.

Why do you think the media did not do that? The story seems to have got a lot of attention.
