First contract bids on the B-52 were in 1946, the year after the war ended.
So technically, you're right......but the concept is the same.
The rest of your post is opinion and speculation.
Production from 1952-1962.
I cannot believe, an old bird my dad may have loaded back in the day, is still wheels up in the theater.
I got tears welping up....
You think they'll de-escalate because of 6 planes? I seriously doubt that.
No, they are not match for US military, but they (and everyone else) know that US is very sensitive to casualties (especially when no one knows why are are fighting), and will not engage if it looks like too many casualties will be taken. After all, the American public don't even know why the war is necessary.
The replacement for Sulimani has been given green light and plenty of funds, and he is under pressure to prove himself. De-escalation is very unlikely.
Pompeo is giving a false flowery speech now on how good world relations are with US while avoiding the Iran/middle east conflict escalation (temporary impeachment, re-election diversion)...what the heck is our long term Iran strategy?
My dad's squadron was the 101st Bomber Squad: The Grim Reapers.
You may want to recheck your squadrons:
The 101st Bombardment Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force Photographic Unit. Its last assignment was with the XIX Tactical Air Command, based at Brooks Field, Texas, and was inactivated on December 25, 1945.
The Grim Reapers is the nickname of the Strike Fighter Squadron 101 (VFA-101) a United States Navy Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) based at Eglin AFB, Florida.
I could also go with, keep your radical Islam stuff on your side of the world, don't attack American people or property, and start behaving like it's 2020.

My dad loaded ordinance in Korea and transferred to the recon wing in Vietnam.
They are still going to this day, stationed in England.
Quote:
The Grim Reapers are the only dedicated USAF air superiority squadron forward deployed to Europe and their F-15C/Ds have been very busy since Russia invaded Crimea over a year and a half ago. The Grim Reapers’ roots date back to World War II and they were on the front lines of the Cold War flying various aircraft types.
How do you define "tread"? I'd say if there is a foreign attack IN AMERICA ON AMERICAN SOIL (like Pearl Harbor or 9/11), then war is justified. That is NOT the case with Iran...bring the troops home!
