The phone call was the day after Mueller testified. In my opinion, it was never about the 2020 election for Trump, it was about his perception that he had been unfairly spied on, investigated, and accused of benefiting from Russian interference. He wanted revenge.
So your saying he was just too stupid to realize that what he was doing was very wrong? According to everyone, many people on the other side were painting a target on his back as soon as he entered the race. So he was too stupid or more likely, he was overcome with egoism and arrogance and did it anyway.
I wish were were a parliamentary republic. I and many others would vote 'No Confidence'.
So the counter to that is "Would Trump have done what he did if Biden wasn't a potential political opponent?"
Or better yet, if the Biden's were Republicans would Trump have asked for them to be investigated.

I haven't spent more than one hour total following the trial because I am 99.99% sure it would have just been a huge waste of my time. The Democrats only succeeded in wasting a lot of time and taxpayer money, and it will just result in a big fat ZERO accomplishment except for being able to gloat that at least Trump was impeached. Big whoop.
I am no Trump supporter, but the Democrats just keep going lower and lower in my estimation. Just when I think I can't possibly have a worse opinion of their leadership, I get surprised AGAIN.
What's been a waste is that the Senate let this sham of a trial proceed knowing they would never allow witnesses or documents. I say let's have both. If Trump is exonerated, fine. If the Bidens did something wrong, fine. I just want it all out there. I don't understand why the Senate wouldn't want that.
Because it's their ONLY defence!
